We’ve had our 4 since October. Our phones intermittently can use the car’s 5g hotspot. I check this by turning off cellular data and then accessing a site. When it works, it’s fast. When it doesn’t, it’s dead. Note when it doesn’t, our phones connect to the car’s 5g WiFi network, but the apps indicate it’s not connected to the internet.

I have NOT signed up for the optional data pass premium option and wanted to ask others who have if they have reliable service? If so, I’m going to finally sign up and hope that my intermittent service issues go away.

To be clear, it is the Upgrade option I’m asking about;

I have no intention of upgrading at this point and my cell service is with AT&T, but for me the car’s hotspot has been reliable.

What you may want to do is to use the Ookla Speedtest app to view the coverage map in your area. Rather than using the coverage maps of the cell phone companies they use crowdsourced information reflecting end-user experiences.

If your area has poor connectivity on Verizon then it wouldn’t make sense to sign up for the upgrade.
