Toyota BRZ4 on the left (connector A) @ 81% SOC charging at 12 kW - 2024 Macan Turbo EV on the right (connector B) @ 82% SOC charging at 71 kW

I arrived at 6x% and left around 82% - when I arrived the Toyota was at 78% SOC … I did a fast food order - left the car - came back - unplugged …

we have the better EV and sometimes forget how good we have it!!

I was honestly embarrassed for the Toyota owner…you can go see for yourself - they are probably still there just now topping out at 87%…

From a road trip charging standpoint, I have to agree.

We have a Solterra (Subaru’s equivalent to the BZ4X) that we bought two years prior to the Macan. From a handling standpoint and around town driving, it’s a fine EV. It also has a fantastic AWD system. Unless they significantly up their game WRT to range and charging time, however, they will remain an also ran and we will replace it with a different EV.

Which car do I prefer in almost every respect? The Macan of course, but the Solterra was our first EV and still fun to drive and is much less expensive . Do I regret not waiting? Only because of lesser utility, but I was also glad to be driving a well built and responsive EV and don’t plan to ever go back. Not even to a PHEV.

BTW: Whoever came up with the name BZ4X did Toyota an immense disservice. I avoided the car on name alone.
