What functions does the passenger screen do

The controls of the passenger screen are a little weird too.

Last weekend, I started a movie playing on the main screen (from USB) but then we wanted to switch this to play the video on the passenger screen.

Apparently (I was driving and couldn't see it), the list of videos in the Music app was empty on that screen, although a search by name did find it. Then it took a lot of prodding to stop the video on the center, and make it play on the passenger side. When I was testing this out in the garage, the videos were listed, so the behavior changes when moving.

Also - this screen gets hot when it's hidden from the driver. Which is a poor experience for a touch screen.

Useless, as you can’t for instance play with your favorite game without stopping the music: no sound at all, or the music of the game for all. Stupid German IT design.

It is announced that the MY2026 Macan get's the option to pair a bluetooth headset and game controller to the passenger screen. This actually makes it a lot more useful.
I Would assume it's a software thingy and hoping that those 2 features will also get available on the current models as that really enhances it's use.
Currently I was a bit disappointed, I wouldn't leave it out but this really seems like an easy software update to me compared to the additional new parking options.

The fact is that Porsche is not interested in fixing nor adding features to our macans. 16 months, and nothing relevant, it's eye catching.
Moreover, they keep struggling fixing big issues with selected cars, maybe that's why they don't focus on anything else.

Correct the passenger display is still useless after 16 month’s it really is a disaster and the latest “major” update fixes issues under the hood, but that remains to be seen as users report same issues after update. (I also had one yellow warning after the update, all assistance features offline)

"worth" is such a loaded term…at the end of the day "no" - it's not "worth" it…

but my wife and I prefer the screen to what ever blank piece of plastic would be there if it was absent - wasted space - occassionally it makes us happy - but as to if any of this "crap" is worth it - well that's a very different metric

I do know it would personally "eat" at me for the life of the car and it's very very difficult to retrofit once you're overwhelmed with regret…

in the grand scheme of things it's not a lot of money vs. the total cost of the car - and the space on the dash is either blank or occupied by the screen…as noted: my wife and I prefer the space to be occupied so for us it's "worth" it…YMMV

We bought the car CPO as well. Do not think I would order it. Yes, it may be good for a co pilot to change navigation, amuse themselves with YouTube, etc. but their phone or iPad is good for that. And the car is tight and being too much "screen on" glow especially at night. Just my thoughts.

Agree with Daveo4EV. I have opted for the passenger display with my 20 Taycan Turbo and the Macan EV. I prefer to have album art or the XM radio displayed when I am driving alone to a blank piece of trim. Is it worth it? It is a nice secondary display with a passenger in that I can navigate with Car play and the native GPS

I didn't want the passenger screen, but since I ended up buying a preconfigured car off the lot, it came with it. And for me, it's been 100% useless.

My main passenger would be my wife, and she has all her apps and games already loaded on her phone, so that gives her a better experience and she couldn't be bothered to mess around with the screen.

Since I'm alone in the car 90% of the time, I thought I could at least show the cool compass/altimeter gauge, but it's disabled when the passenger seat is empty. Best I can do it show the stupid Macan logo which I consider a waste of battery.

I would definitely not spec it if I were to do it again
