I was contacted by another member via a private message asking about my impressions of the performance difference in Sport vs. Sport+ modes.

Subjectively that is very difficult to answer since the acceleration is pretty violent and you hit highway speeds in such a short time. But the car has a G-meter that can be displayed in one of the tubes. Additionally, if you use Launch Control, the HUD will display the peak acceleration in G.

However, I also have a Racelogic VBOX, a device used in motorsports for testing acceleration, braking, and time distances. I used that this morning to conduct some informal testing to see if Sport+ has any acceleration advantage over Sport mode.

Please note that the numbers I am about to share should not be treated as absolute. They are for my car under the conditions as they were this morning, on a stretch of road that is slightly uphill. I had about 80 pounds of stuff in the frunk and trunk, and my car rides on 22" RS Spyders with Michelin PilotSport All Season Tires. The conclusion I came to is that there is a slight performance advantage to having the Sport+ mode that is available with the Sport Chrono package.

Makes a bigger difference in Macan 4 package I suspect. Slower vehicle, but benefits from that package seem perceptible when I use it in Sports+

Unfortunately, my company sold our VBox setup when I retired and I have not installed any of the other inertial gear stored here in our slower Macan 4. Thanks for doing some real world high grade testing on that kick butt turbo though.

Macan 4 S runs with Continental AS tires, 22 inch rims using the car G meter
warm road sunny day Normal mode: acceleration 0.7 G
Braking 1.1 G
Rainy day in sport plus: acceleration 0.8 G
Braking 1.1 G

All Season seems to be the right label for rain conditions.

I wish the car meter had more decimal places, Your VBOX is a better measuring device

This afternoon I showed my car to a friend of mine who owns a base Taycan, and demonstrated a launch. The HUD displayed a peak acceleration of 1.2 G.

I'm not saying that's impossible but that was with one more person in the car than this morning, and I would trust the VBOX more than the car. On the other hand it was on a road that is completely flat. I'll do more testing when time allows, and will track the G reported by the car vs. the VBOX.

stiffer shock settings and less weight transfer when launching
I should compare Sport drive mode in standard configuration to Sport drive mode with Sport+ PASM and see if there is a noticeable difference. 🤔
