Is your Homelink range short?

Seems like i have to get right up on the garage door for Homelink to work. The regular garage remote works from much farther away. Anyone else notice this or just me?

I find it spotty not sure if it’s a distance thing for me. Essentially sometimes it doesn’t work. Like 5% of the time.

We also find the Homelink range is very short and prone to not working reliably. We've put a garage remote in the car because we've grown tired of it. Eventually, I'll add something to activate the garage door through iOS on our CarPlay screen.

Yes, the range is very short and sometimes it doesn’t work at all. I too keep a physical remote in the car as a backup.

Well that's disappointing to hear. I haven't programmed mine yet (just bought the car Monday). Both our Fords have good range. I can hit the button 2 houses away and the door is already open enough to pull in by the time I get to it.

This car is great in many ways but I'm finding some disappointing things like this where our Fords work better at half the price. ?

Interesting. Ours is much better than previous car (Alpha). No longer have to get right up on the door. We programmed the middle button but I can’t imagine one button is different than another.

My car had some range issues for a while so I cleared the home-link system and reset again. Has worked perfectly since with much better range.

I find that mine is very directional. If the car isn’t perpendicular to the garage, it won’t work. Of course, I turn to exit mine in reverse, so I have to wait until I’m fully turned around before it works to close.

Or use the remote I keep in the car

I’m getting a new opener shortly, and will find out if I need to extend the antenna for that

I did this at first but it did not fix anything for me so I just decided to lengthen the antenna. The funny thing is, I only did that on one of my garage doors and I have about the same range on all of them now. My wife also started having issues with the range on that garage door so in my case, I am pretty sure it really was related to the opener itself and not the car, but of course YMMV!

Yes! it's bugged me for awhile, thanks for bringing it up, too bad there is no fix for it

10 meters? That's just 2 car lengths. Yikes. My driveway alone is 13 meters.

I hit the button in my other car at about 100 meters. That's just perfect for me to roll into the garage without having to wait for the door.

I have to be within five meters of the gates of our building, with the gates swinging to the side and not up. I’m pretty close to getting smacked by the gates.

My physical remote works from several times that distance.

I've had a problem with mine for awhile...about 10% of the time it does not work. Next day it's fine. I don't know if it is range or whatever...but now it's the only problem I have with the car after the first couple of months. I'll try some different parking positions and see. Cheers
