Maybe a dumb question: how do you know the version of your car?
Smoother ride on normal mode would be appreciated. My 2019 Macan S was smoother.
I actually don’t feel much difference switching to sport or sport plus in the 4S.

These doesn't seem to be any way to know within the menu system of the car to confirm the version loaded in your car. But, unless you have had the software update since basically late June, you don't have SQ5, and SQ4 I think was available on May 29? The dates might be a little off going by memory now.

As for suspension, I thin SQ5 for suspension is a real effect. It's not massive, but its noticed, and you still have the option for Sport.

BUT - Keep in mind this only matters if you have the air suspension, which I believe was standard in North America, but an option for most other parts of the world.

I got my car on the 29th of May (used one with 9000km) from a dealership in Germany so I might not have the SQ4.
I have air suspension which one a must have for me.
Maybe I’ll check with my usual dealership in France if I can get the update. It’s a shame it’s not over the air…

It's very likely you don't even have SQ4 done, or SQ3 even - SQ4 felt like a good update, but SQ5 is really looking much better (I'm not ready for a final verdict as I want more time and different failure modes to be tested - not to take away how much better it already feels).

I think your serious consideration for getting the SQ5 update would be worth it - but there is an old saying, if it's not broke, don't try and fix it that could apply to - this is really your call, I had issues, and wanted to try the update as there was not much to lose if it didn't work.

They seem really nervous about OTA updates for these - But I did see a reddit post for an OTA update for a MY26 for the OBC software fox - so maybe they are going to do more in the future - which I would like, mostly because they pretty much only give me a 4 banger gas Macan when I get work done, and only rare do I get the electric Macan loaner.

it is kinda amazing...cuz these car systems seem to be way more delicate than any other computer system.... It seem like they don't code in resillence or redudencies at all...
the concept of a "bricked" car should never be possible outside of physical component failure...

I have thought the same thing - a complex process. Porsche is doing some sort of hardware update on the next gen version, I can't recall what it was called, Carid or some other name, where true over the air would be possible. This generation was so delayed that they ended up going to market with the half way between version of the hardware - which is the core cause of the fewer OTA updates... Next Gen hardware is rumored to be MUCH easier to update, and that's why OTA will also work for core/deep systems.

burried in the NHTSB link at the start of this thread is all the other ones too, but there is current 278 documents related, so I just don't want to go back to find the exact document for SQ1, SQ2 and SQ3, frankly SQ1 -3 was useless and didn't really fix anything. SQ4 was the first one to fix most/close to all, and SQ5 still looks really good so far for a true fix.

I got SQ4 done because I had instrument cluster blacking out while driving... they did SQ5 last Friday because I was already in the shop and still had sound system issues - they replaced the Bose AMP and did all the software and sensor calibrations for the windshield replacement and then the update t SQ5.

Over my decades of integrating hardware and software I have bricked my fair share of processors/cards via a power or data transfer glitch. Over the years we learned to download the update package into the processor, double check it's integrity, Have a mechanism to swap saved and operating software back and forth if necessary. But that takes more thinking, hardware, and firmware. There are a few technical challenges but one would think that, since I retired 10 years ago, engineers are well aware. But then companies often don't give the staff enough time or budget and they hire new wis kids that have yet to learn that lesson.

Modules that can be bricked by users or general purpose technicians is a sign of a rush to market mind set. This has to be in the requirements set from day one.

If I read the documentation correctly, SQ5 is another workshop campaign while SQ4 wasn't.
So it appears to me that SQ4 was only applied if people report issues or the car was already in service. SQ5 should be applied proactively, maybe there will even be some communication sent out.

This. Also my take is after reading this whole checklist with items like "check the battery voltage, below 13V it can brick the hardware" also seems like a really bad design - this should be automated on the software level and diagnostic/update tools should verify this. No wonder a lot of cars get bricked during the update process.

After a week from the SQ5 update and driving almost 600 km, there are no issues on the car. Let's see....
