You still have to use the keyfob to unlock / lock the car which is no different really - signal could be intercepted regardless.

Increasingly Porsche are making Comfort Access standard on many of their models.
I get that, just doing the most I can to be honest.
My key lives in a faraday box, and away from home a faraday pouch (which I keep in the glovebox)

I wonder if Digital Key operates better, presumably so?
It will do (different tech implementation - encrypted UWB / NFC) but not everyone has it.

I suspect they key fob may now use UWB (Ilyra Wide Band) as well.

Hopefully, as annoyingly you can no longer manually put the key to sleep like you can with the Taycan.

The key will go to sleep and scanning for the key will cease after a period of time regardless, if kept within scanning range of the car.

Did you consider Porsche Vehicle Tracking (PVTS+)?
Did look into this - i'm leaning towards Ghost III (the II is not compatible with Q6/Macan architecture) as i got a deal of ÂŁ400 for install and NO ongoing costs. the car will just not start unless you unlock with the secret pin or with the mobile app.

There is a FOB also but my worry is that if you had this stolen / lost then it means you can still steal the car!

I just don't know how this impacts warranty although i've been told by installer you can put in workshop mode and they have never had a warranty cancelled.

For me the security is vital though.

PVTS+ integrates into My Porsche App.
yes i know - the PVTS+ is S5 level but it's quite expensive still at ÂŁ750 + ÂŁ289pa

The fact the porsche app is a bit flaky doesn't help and this one comes with a seperate app with it's own map backed by vodafone.

No longer seems to be the case. MY26 Macan installed now purely Vodafone via Myconnected car. FOB still required as No fob - No start system. Tbh probably not massively different then the one linked above

The lines are fairly blurred when it comes to Ghost and warranty. I have been told by both installer and dealer that they can void warranty if installed. My understanding is that it has to direct affect the part in question. With Ice cars and multiple mechanical parts it would be hard for a dealer to prove. EVs however may prove easier. Funnily enough when collecting the GTS I heard a rep saying which cars could not be left outside as they did not have Ghost fitted.

I've had PVTS+ on 3 cars now and the app was never flakey in 4 years for this feature.

Pain point is the driver card / fob which has to be carried separately.

I've now abandoned it as my insurance doesn't require it - standard immobiliser is seemingly good enough.

Ah OK

You do get alarms, valet mode, speed alert and location alarm with the app though.

hmm. I've cancelled the install now of the Ghost III as i don't want it to affect my warranty.

I've asked for a call back from Porsche as i've seen this one :

https://www.trackerfit.co.uk/manufa...kers/vodafone-protect-connect-s7-tracker.html

Says porsche approved... wonder if it's the same without the app integration ?
As I mentioned earlier. Porsche tracker is no longer integrated into the car or the Myapp. Completely standalone now.

Looking at features I would say this is the closest to what is being fitted if you go via Porsche.

https://www.trackerfit.co.uk/manufa...-protect-connect-s5-vts-advanced-tracker.html

Well at least what was to our GTS.
