I believe it was ACC and LCA. The MY25 also gets a much nicer base wheel and the ability to do an inexpensive upgrade to the other 20" wheel.

A MY24 Macan 4 will cost 2 to 3 thousand more than an identically specced MY25 Macan 4 in the US.

I have a 4-year-old tesla 3 performance, and my wife just got the macan 4 ev in october.

compared to tesla, everything is better on the macan. there are a few software issues, but before I list them, let me say I'm planning to replace my 3 with a taycan in the next few years after getting this macan.

the porsche configuration screens are not all in the same place; you have to go to many places to get everything set.

profiles ("accounts") are tied to a physical key. the first 12 days we had the car, it loaded our accounts but then said they couldn't be accessed. I'm thinking it was waiting on TLS certificates to be provisioned somewhere. after the accounts started working, they work great, except one issue: no way to set one key as the primary, so if both keys are present, it's random which key wins the race and therefore which account is selected. my solution is I bought a faraday bag on amazon to stick the "other" key in when we're both getting in the car. the reason this is a big deal is because once the car picks an account, it takes a serious amount of time for it to switch to another one after you manually tell it to. and sometimes it fails. but if you walk away, let the car lock, then walk back with just the other key, it flawlessly switches to the other account.

sometimes the posche phone app fails to load data for a few hours, then starts working again. that's only happened to us once, but another time it failed to read the odometer and reported the car had 1.3 billion miles on it for a few hours.

sometimes the sensors fail temporarily (seems to be a software issue) and then start working again later. this has happned to us twice in the month we've had it.

the not-at-home charging situation has a bit more friction; you have to go through the porsche app when you're at the charger. not much interaction required, but more than zero.

speaking of charging, porsche reports both range and charging rate differently: the charging rate the car reports is how much is going into the batteries, not how much is coming out of the charger. for example, my 3 reports 12kW, but the macan reports 9.3kW from the same charger. similar situation for range estimates; tesla estimates are optimistic, porsche's are not. the macan has a 100kWh battery, the 3 has about a 76kWh battery

one thing which is better about the software in the macan than tesla: you can have two phones connected at once; priority phone for apple car play (for navigation, phone calls, messaging) and then any other bluetooth-paired phone can separately run bluetooth audio, so the passenger can D.J.! phone calls to the driver's phone still come up in carplay.

another software improvement in porsche: passenger side screen. can run music from there (but phone's interface is better) but can also run the built-in navigation and there's a great "cockpit" screen which shows a g-force meter, elevation, compass, speed, and navigation stats. and apps like web browser (vivaldi). there's also youtube but I haven't tested that yet

Just curious, what do you think of how the Macan 4 drives compared to the Tesla P3D? My favorite thing about my 2018 Tesla P3D is the incredible pick up from 0 to 60 in 3.1 seconds. I am 90% sure I want to wait until I can get a 4S, so I can get the extra horsepower and torque.

Since you have both cars, please share your thoughts on how your wife's Macan 4 compares to your Tesla in terms of pickup and handling.

Thank you,
Joe

I've driven and owned a LOT of EVs and I'll tell you straight up, if you're used to EV pickup/torque you won't be thrilled with the 4. It's the slowest EV I've driven. Some people won't mind, but it sure sounds like you would. They have it listed at 5.2 and it feels like a 5 second car.

she was going from the tesla x (a 90D) which is like 4.8s 0–60 and the macan 4 is rated at 4.9 so in a straight line feels about the same. The macan 4 corners much better though and feels better (stiffer and more stable yet more comfortable at the same time). And I can’t stress enough how much better the macan feels; everything about the macan says “this is a serious sports car”.

my performance 3 is considerably faster in a straight line, but lacks that solid and stable feel. My plan is to get a CPO taycan turbo in a few years to replace the 3

Have a highland 3 performance and a turbo Macan on order. Felt I got the same 0-60 thrust with a vast improvement in build quality.

the Porsche is a great car and drives better

it is NOT as quick as the Tesla off the line and you will notice the difference
it is louder as you do hear the fake noise, which can not be turned off
no one pedal driving
the software still has issues. mine is in for the third time. A lot of things work in park but not while driving. some are just inconvenient and some are safety issues

the Porsche wins on all fit, finish and status

It's listed as 4.9 on the Porsche US website. I know we're splitting hairs here, but just thought I'd mention it.

5.2s is for 0-100km/h (0-62mph) whereas 4.9s is for 0-60mph.

My mistake. But yes, I feel like the 4 is just missing that oomph. You certainly don't get the thrust you'd expect from an EV if you floor it, but it still feels quick while in motion.
