I really don't see Porsche's logic here.
The logic is that you just get out, and walk away like Charlies Angels, and the car locks down itself.

It's different from previous cards, but honestly, it's how it should be! Kind of how Waymo robots pop out the handles when you walk up to them. The future is automated!

This does not explain why when turning off the vehicle with a turn on/off button and trying to leave it turns itself on again ;)

There is a setting in the central display which can be enabled (perhaps in error) and will remain on for 30 mins when exiting the car - did you read that at the bottom?

Be sure to hold the power button until the display goes off too if you want to perform the traditional method to turn off a car.

In any event the car is not actually "On" just the displays are lit up - this is "Readiness for Operation" rather than "Ready for Operation" (which requires a foot on the brake pedal and a gear to be selected) - and will ultimately go blank when you lock the car.

The instructions don't even suggest to power off the car when exiting just press P and that is another big clue that it is an unnecessary task but a hard habit to break.

No it's not that. When you park the car and turn it off with a power on/off button it actually turns itself off and all the screens go black. You cat sit in the car after that and it's off. But when you move (to get up and out) it turns itself back on. That's the issue.

FWIW, the section of our owner’s manual entitled “stopping, parking and exiting vehicle” makes no mention of the power button and instead simply advises that one should press the park button and exit the vehicle. Instead, our owners manual indicates that the power button is used to manually switch “operational readiness” on and off and specifically instructs that “If operational readiness is switched off [by pressing the power button], the previously selected [pcm and comfort] settings are automatically saved for the selected account (Porsche ID) via the PCM and paired with the used vehicle key.”

Given the wonky user settings issues my wife and I suffered when we both used the power button to turn off our macan before exiting and the complete resolution of this issue once we stopped pressing the power button prior to exiting our Macan EV, it seems clear that Porsche does not intend for the power button to be used each time one’s done driving their Macan EV. Instead, the power button’s main purpose seems to be for storing any changes one’s made to pcm and comfort settings during their drive, as pressing the power button causes the Macan EV to “automatically save()” the pcm and comfort settings “for the selected account (Porsche ID) via the PCM“ and pair these new/changed settings with the vehicle key used to access/start the Macan EV at the beginning of the trip.

If the power button was simply provided to enable one to turn off the macan EV at the conclusion of a drive, Porsche would have incorporated the Macan EV’s save changes functionality elsewhere.

My (and my wife’s) macan ev driving experiences have become much better (no lost/changed comfort or pcm settings) since we both stopped using the power button at the end of our drives and instead simply hit park, close doors and walk away (to a locked door chirp).

I’m also still curious about whether the OP’s issue with his Macan EV turning on when he moves to exit his seat after hitting the power button stems from his macan EV’s ”comfort entry” feature being activated (comfort entry slides the driver’s seat back and steering wheel up to facilitate easier ingress/egress), which would require operational readiness to be reactivated to operate and whether turning off the comfort entry feature would allow operational readiness to stay off during the period between hitting the power button and closing the driver’s door.

I personally see no reason to use the power button during normal operation of our Macan EV unless I change a PCM/convenience setting during a drive and want to save the changed setting to my PCM/porsche ID and driver’s key memory.

this really not that complex... although i understand the complaint.
you either let the car lock/power off when you walk away... OR you press the power button AFTER you've gotten up out of the seat.

the Seat sensors can't tell if you're coming or going...if you press the power button while you're still in the seat, when you trigger that seat sensor as you're trying to get out, it turns the car the car back on, cuz it can't tell if you're coming or going.

Um it ought to know since you've just powered the car off and so the next logical step is to exit. An open door triggers the next event in that egress sequence.

I'm now thinking this could be a bug as I've never experienced it in any of the loaners I've had nor my Taycans.

Trying to figure out this sequence. When I park my car, hit the power button and open the door everything turns off like it should. However when I’m climbing out of the seat headlights and dash turn back on. It’s not caused by a fob button getting triggered or grabbing the steering wheel (first 2 ideas that I had and ruled out). I know think it’s something to do with how I get out of the seat and some kind of pressure sensor getting triggered. I have the sport seats so you have maneuver over the thigh bolsters. I typically rotate a little in the seat before stepping out. The other day I tried get out very slow and smooth and it didn’t happen Anybody else notice this and figure why this happens?
Yes! This was driving me crazy as well. The stupid thing would turn on after I push the button to turn off and get out of the seat! But I think I figured it out...by accident, really. After parking, if you open the door first, and then push the power off button, the Macan will remain off when you get out of your seat and close the door. It is ridiculous, but it works. Try it.

I think the issue is that they don't "time out" the seat sensor. i agree...after turning the car off, if should ignore any seat sensor data for a short period, to allow ppl to get out without the seat sensors thinking you're coming if i you happen to rock in the seat or something

This all comes down to crappy software - it's clearly controlled by something that is half baked. Some people don't mind but there is a ton of such minor flaws that are just obvious bad design or bugs. Plus the lack of OTA updates which could fix these things which you should reasonably expect from this kind of product.

they surely needed more testing...OR more direct ways for customer feedback. There's no reason something like this couldn't be fixed via an OTA update.
I gave feedback regarding the same "timeout" need for the spoiler...It should have at least 1-2 minute time out when coming to a stop while in drive before lowering...so that it's not up > down > up > down all the time as you city drive, especially since it's audible.

but as others have said, i think their intention was that ppl use the Comfort access features. They really don't intend for you to use the power button at all...which i get. I hardly ever touch it

After reading all this I have just stopped using the power button. I think the main reason I was shower button is that it stopped media playback when I would get out of the car. Since the wheel and media button don’t pause but just mute I have stopped using those. I wish there was a setting for seatbelt uncles /door open media would stop playing. Obviously a lot of the little things in this car weren’t done in a proper manner

@krissrock Haven't (yet) noticed the spoiler issue you noted, but will pay attention to it on my next drive. Presumed our spoiler operates similarly to our Panamera's, raising at highway+ speed and lowering when city(-) speed reached.

As for the "power" button, agree -- and the owner's manual sections I quoted above supports this -- indicating that this button's to be used to trigger the car to save new/changed PCM/comfort settings (and doesn't mention using it to "turn the car on/off" -- instead, instructing that one should simply push the park button when done driving and let the car turn itself off after the door's closed. While these are atypical instructions (and required my wife and I, as ICE Porsche owners, to unlearn ingrained behavior), ignoring the power button has actually made our Macan ev experience better, by both allowing the profiles each of us created during initial setup to remain stored and tied to each of our respective keys and have a more seamless experience at the conclusion of each driving session (e.g. pressing the "power" button disables the slider that allows one to keep the climate control on after a drive, which is super-handy for us when running errands on hot summer days).
