Charging Not Possible

About four hours into a 1000 mile road trip, I got this error when attempting to charge, first at an Electrify America station and later at a Chargepoint station in Kansas. Had to be towed back about 250 miles to my dealer (closest Porsche dealer) in Denver.

Prior to that the GPS had started going haywire, showing the car veering off the highway i was on.

Not sure what went wrong. Car now seems to be accepting charge.

Anyone seen anything like this?

I have seen this error only once. The message center gave additional information regarding pre-climate. I use that feature rarely now because I’ve seen other errors when trying to use it as well.

At the risk of telling you something you already know, look for the comment bubble icon in the PCM. Hopefully the message will prove helpful

I got this error yesterday at an EA charging station. Sadly, they are not maintained well and I chalked it up to a bad charger. I moved to a different station and it charged as normal. I hope it’s not your car! Please keep us informed as to what the issue was.

I checked the notifications, but did not seem helpful. I did try two different stations. the first, an Electrify America had others successfully charging. I did try to connect a couple of times to no avail. At the second station, a ChargePoint, I got the same error. While waiting for the tow vehicle after about an hour, the Macan did charge.

Definitely time to involve Porsche, or at least I would.

Car refused to charge 2 times already. It was showing bunch of errors in the app that DC charging not available but AC is and that I should contact the dealer. Turned it off and on and it worked... But it failed multiple times on different chargers with the same message

I got that once but at home with a J1772 connector on my Tesla charger

I got the Macan back from the dealer. They stated that the lates recall software update fixes the problems. We shall see.

I love this - and they are Probably right - the state of automotive tech has now evolved to the point that Dealer service no longer "knows" anything as factual - but yeah throwing the latest software against the wall and seeing what sticks is the best option these days - as to what problems it will or will not fix - well that's just a blind guess…

I just took a 500 mile trip and had a whopping charge by EA ($1.50/kWh) when my car wasn’t recognized by the charger and I opted to pay. There was a guy before me using a NACs to CCS adapter on his Tesla (probably unrelated?) This was particularly questionable behavior because there were about 10 Tesla super charger stalls adjacent to the 4 EA CCS stalls that he could have waited for.

Also a line had formed for the CCS chargers so I acted fast and did not try to debug the problem opting to just pay. I called EA because a charge appeared for NYX cosmetics. (You can’t make this stuff up). I thought this was some sort of hack, but told this was an expected “glitch” by the EA support center. She also told me I should have unplugged and waited for 2 minutes to get my car recognized. Lesson learned. I will also avoid this particular location. Surge pricing?

As a side note I opted for a Red E charging station earlier in my trip that charged $0.50/kWh just for comparison…
