Direct Charging Toggle on App?

Hi All,

Can anyone advise on when to use the Direct Charging Toggle on the app?
I've found that I always need to toggle it on before it charges, whether using a standard or fast charger. Which makes me think why is it needed.
I've read some other people here have found that the direct charging means it overrides the scheduled charging for cheaper overnight electricity.

Anyone been given the official line or know what the toggle is for?
Again nothing in the manual that I could find.

If you have departure settings setup, then the car won’t charge until it thinks it needs to in order to be ready for your departure time that day (unless it’s below the minimum percentage…can’t remember what that is, 25%? But then it will stop at the minimum and wait to charge the rest till later).

Think of Direct Charging as an override for when you have Departure settings on (for that day). I have mine setup for everyday at 6am, which means the car will typically wait until ~2am before it starts charging. If I need to charge it during the day for some reason, I’d need to turn on Direct Charging.

Direct Charging will ignore any set profiles and / or timers - think of it as an override.

This is necessary for public AC charging which could be problematic (obviously) if you have active timers and / or profiles which won't permit a charging session to start until their criteria are met.

So basic rule of thumb (assuming you have active timers and / or profiles) when public AC charging - enable Direct Charge and if charging at home and you want to 'charge right now' then toggle on.

DC public charging ignores timers and / or profiles and so Direct Charge is not relevant.
