I’m using a Zaptec charger in combination with software from the energy supplier to charge automaticly during the cheapest hours! Really cool!

I also have a Zaptec charger and no matter if I use the app from the energy supplier to set rules or set charging rules in the car it just starts charging shortly after I plug in the cable.
I had a Tesla and just set the charging start time in the car and it started that time as expected.

I plug in the charting cable at 7.00pm. The charger is 11kW AC.
The first half an hour or so the charging is paused. But then it starts charging.
Why does it start that early?
i'm not seeing this behavior... mine remains paused

I was thinking about buying the tesla charger.
What do you think?

I have been charging the Macan sinds september now with the Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 without any issues. I get the same 11kw I got when I charged my M3.

I also started charging with a schedule that I have set in the app, starting at 02:00 and ending at 05:00. That also works, what I do notice is that when I plug it in it charges for a few seconds and then it stops. I think that is because the Macan is trying to figure out what the charger can provide. It then resumes at 02:00 and stops at 05:00 or when it reaches the 80% level.

What I forget to set was the toggle for location, I've done that now. I wonder if it will remember that this is my home charger so it doesn't need that initial couple of seconds of charge to determine the ability of the charger.

Oh, and another thing with the TWC, you have to open it up to all EV's.
That's because the TWC has three settings:
  1. Only your Tesla, identified with the VIN
  2. Only all Tesla's
  3. All EV's.
So if your charging location is accessible to the public you might want to think about that.

I also have charging time problems.
SOC is 50% limit is 80%
I set smart timings from 1.00am to 5.00am Departure to 6.00am
This is the onle rule.
I plug in the charting cable at 7.00pm. The charger is 11kW AC.
The first half an hour or so the charging is paused. But then it starts charging.
Why does it start that early? 3 hours should be enough for 50% to 80%.
The car is only 3 days old.
Not sure if you figured this out but if you could share any and all timer and profile settings you have active that would help enormously.

Depending on how you have the app configured (and if conflicting settings are present) it could be the case that one setting is cancelling the other leading to an earlier than planned start time. Remember that unless programmed correctly the car will decide when to stop and charge (repeat) in order to reach the target charge - it could start and finish early or start later and finish for the set departure but either way your chosen target charge will be reached.

yesterday I successfully installed my outlet and EVSE and charged last night via the schedule with no issue....

also, i only 9.6 kw charging as others have noticed...I really hope the 11 kw charging is just a software update

Great!

11kW is the maximum input power of the onboard AC charger. No software update required from the get go.

Depending on what EVSE (wall box) you have, the amperes, cabling etc will ultimately determine the maximum kW your car can draw. From the numbers quoted it looks like your EVSE is 9.6kW max. To get close to 11kW (less losses) you will either need a more powerful EVSE and / or the commensurate amperes in the supply to support. Check with your electrician.

In UK with 32A single phase supply of electric I will only get 7.4kW (my EVSE is 22kW capable and to get 11kW to max out the car I would need 3 phase supply which just isn't worth it).

yeah, no 3 phase supplies in the US...that may be why no one is seeing 11kW... so i don't see the point of getting a more power charger if i can't get anything better than 9.6

But i have 60a service

An anyone give any advice on charging the Machan EV on a delayed timer ? We have a new Macan EV and apparently unless we have a Porsche wall charger you can’t program the Porsche app to charge the car at a time when you want. So we have cheaper electric between 12.30am and 5am but we can’t program the car to charge at that time.

Does anyone know if you can program the charging to come on a timer manually from inside the vehicle rather than an app ? Thanks
I bought a Grizzl-E EVSE specifically to have the flexibility to precisely control start and stop times. If I turn the feature on for the EVSE, it will never charge the car outside of the low cost time windows.

I only enabled this to test it, so far. After I verified that it always worked as advertised, I just went back to allowing the Macan to decisions about when to charge based on a departure schedule or "direct charge".
