You say you got it twice. Did it clear up the first time on its own and then come back later and then clear on its own again or was it not clearing the second time? I ask because if it self clears it seems erroneous and does not affect the functioning of the car. I had that once and it cleared after I rebooted and it has never come back (3 months ago). If it self clears then the log will not have any source it it and they will not be able to find out what is causing it (because it is not repeatable on demand). This is the same for a few other messages although I have had no messages at all for the last 3 months.

it cleared both times upon powering off then back on. the message had not returned by the time i got it to the shop for the backup camera recall. interesting that the log won’t have any record of it. i’ll follow up with them tomorrow to confirm. this is a little concerning though, the car only has 1200 miles on it and has been throwing various errors, this being the worst, ever since i took delivery on it.

Hi. I had it and the dealership told me to bring it in.
It was a Porsche recognized software problem.
The dealership ran appropriate update and the rear view camera recall (mine being among those cars that didn’t have a failed rear view image, nonetheless the dealership ran that patch too).

has not happened again in last 1k miles.

Looks like the new Macan Ev is riddled with these types of dysfunction. My electric Turbe is 2 month old 2000 miles and is also experiencing a variety of issues ranging from SOS call red light, ABS malfunction, various assistance package down “requiring service”. The all clear up upon overnight stop or in a matter of few days.
The worse that happened to be yesterday was the main display if from if driver went just dark. Thanks god for the heads up display that was still functioning. Resumed back to normal after stop restarting

thanks, good to hear. now porsche just needs to tell my dealership which recognized software problem it is so they can install the fix and get the car back to me! 🙂

Hi. I’ll try to check my records and advise if I can find the fault code on the paperwork

So to be clear, the log will show that an error was generated but that does not tell them the source. It could be multiple sources. It’s like a clue without any trail but some insight into what “might “ be causing it. They have to troubleshoot and recreate the error while they have diagnostics running to see where it is coming from. A persistent error is the best kind because it keeps repeating itself. I have found all the errors so far do not persist. That is why they say they don’t know what is causing it. This happens a lot in software. If an error is not repeatable then they can only guess about the cause.

I can add a few more points for those interested. They could replace everything that might be causing the issue, but that would be expensive and not a guaranteed solution because error trapping in software does not trace to component failure but to exceptional handling in the software, and most errors are software-only issues. They could also put a debugging software routine in the software to do the diagnostics while you drive, but that takes extra processing power and would create other errors, which only a software tester would know how to handle. For software-only issues that are not configuration issues, they need to update the software for everyone so they don't end up with rogue versions of software on individual cars. The latest "recall" was all software fixes, you may have noticed with the only possible hardware fix being replacing the camera, which I think was quite rare.

I have had that exact error probably 4 times in the 3 months I've owned our 4s, including yesterday. Shut down the car, re-started, and no error. So I'm thinking no point to bring it in unless the error is displayed when in the shop.

*edit/add- the car went in 2 weeks ago for the rear camera recall and software was updated at that time

Still, we have a road trip coming up, and I'd rather not be 500 miles from home and have a failure.

Hi. Glad reset helps. That said, Alerts don’t happen or pop up less so more than once if nothings wrong. As you noted, one of the next times it may not reset. Getting to your destination may not be an option in that case. Imagine its night time and dealerships are closed. Ouch! Sounds like time for a “health check up” for your EV 🤔🤫😉.
Happy travels. 👍🏻

Mine had the exact same thing the very next day after I took it home (new). It took Porsche two weeks to get back to the service department at my dealership and after multiple attempts and fixes, they ordered a new inverter. So disappointing that I had my car for a day and by the time I actually get it it will be six weeks. (1-2 weeks from Germany and 4-5 days to fix). Have to wait until the 30 day mark for my lemon law repurchase offer. Still not sure what I’m going to do, the techs actually found 126 faults on the vehicle.. so sad! I thought I was gonna love that car, it’s beautiful.

So sad to hear of your misfortune. I had 4 visits to the dealership including the 1st one where we had to break into my car to open it as other Porsche official back up options didn’t work. Main battery was at 80%.

12v dead. Dealership found all codes wiped out. They had to reload everything. Kept car 2 weeks to test everything.

Had 3 more serious software issues. all needed the car left with dealership. Dealership did an amazing job and I had a loaner each time without any hesitation.

In total, well over the NYS 30 day and >4 dealership visits including flatbed, required for lemon law.

Initial case filed was Declined. I appealed with support from Dealership testimonials. They went from <1 month lease payment compensation to 4 months effectively forcing me to sue PCNA to enforce my rights. I opted to ride out the remaining 5 months of my lease.

I limit use of my car to select end-to-end transits, so if I’m surprised again, I know the car is safe where it gets parked at one of 3 destinations with garages. Needless to say I’m not taking my wife out to dinner at night in the rain in case I need to abandon the car in an unprotected open parking lot over night.

So sad that the Brand that’s using us as live Beta Testing sites, and does not offer OTA software updates, looks to leave its brand loyalists to deal with these unacceptable issues.

I’m going back to Porsche ICE models. My personal experience (13 prior ICE Porsches since 1987), provided me with much more reliable and enjoyable “go anywhere-anytime” ownership enjoyment.

I sincerely hope you and all other owners have better fortunes with EV Porsches than I, 😉! Cheers 👍

it seem that almost all these error messages are false positives. hopefully porsche figures out how to eliminate them. I've never had a time where the car was down down...All these errors disappear after a few minutes. I had an error tha wouldn't let me drive me car, so i just grabbed lunch, and everything was fine when i came back.
No excuse for this issues...but I trust that this wont be an ongoing issue for years. We already saw an update that attempts to reduce/fix these errors within 6 months of the full product line release (the 4s and Base)...so i'm confident they'll figure it out.

i do wish we had more direct lines of communication with them so i can tell about this trash "random" function in the infotainment

agree with all your points. my problem, and i assume a few others, is how long do they keep the car before they determine they’ve fixed it or think it’s ok/safe to return to me/us? so far i’m on 8 days 😕
