Problem is that it is very hard to setup a test that covers all bases, especially environments, California always ideal Temp versus Norway … if I step on the accelerator pedal in Norway at 0C or colder with a cold soaked battery I do not think this would hold any truth … So artikels like this could have an adverse effect on your battery 😉

I think the whole battery aging thing is true, yet this is part of the normal degradation and is not as dramatic as people think it is. I was talking with a taxi driver at a Superharger location the other day. He had a Tesla Model X, 600.000 KM on the clock, mostly supercharging and still had the same battery. So yes, you lose some of the capacity, but lets not get overdramatic.

A gas car is degraded as soon as it comes out of the factory. Only 20-30% useable in the tank.

A gallon of gasoline contains approximately 33.7 kWh (121 MJ) of chemical energy.

Internal Combustion Engine Efficiency

• Internal combustion engines are inherently inefficient due to energy losses from heat, friction, and other factors.

• Typical ICEs have a thermal efficiency of about 20-30% in real-world driving conditions.

• This means only 20-30% of the energy in gasoline is converted into useful mechanical energy that powers the car.

Usable Energy for Motion

• For every gallon of gasoline, only about 6.7 to 10.1 kWh of energy is effectively used to move the car (20-30% of 33.7 kWh).

Electric vehicles use 85-90% of their stored energy for motion, compared to just 20-30% for internal combustion engine vehicles, making EVs about 3-4 times more efficient.
