How can I get innodrive after delivery?

Hi everyone,

I have bought my Macan 4 with adaptive cruise control. I did not buy the Innodrive as I was told by friends that I could upgrade to Innodrive later, as an over-the-air solution was offered to Taycan owners. After trying another Macan EV with Innodrive, I was ready to pay for the upgrade. However, when ordering the upgrade, I was told by the Porsche dealer in Denmark that the option previously possible for Taycan owners was not offered to Macan owners. In other words, there was no possible way to get Innodrive retrofitted.

If any of you have solved the problem I am very interested to learn how it was done.

Unfortunately your friends were wrong.

On the Taycan it is an option that can be added later, but on the Macan it is not.

FOD program is only available for 2020-2024 Taycans only with ACC to add Innodrive and/or ALK.
Macan EV or new 2025 Taycans are not supported as this program has not been renewed.

So is it the software or is there lack of the physical hardware already in place? If it's software maybe future over the air updates will allow purchase.

My understanding is it takes both HW & SW. Given the way it’s packaged now, at least on paper, you either have it or you don’t. Not very helpful I know… but I had the same question and that’s what I was told.

In fact you would need to buy a Macan that was spec'd with it in 2024 or 2025 as you cannot get innodrive at all on a 2026 model. Strange because you can option innodrive on a 2026 Taycan or Panamera but not on the Macan. On first glance it looks like they just rebranded it as "driver assist" but if you read the fine print they have removed the "steering" capability. You can compare the innodrive discription on Taycan config to the dirver assist on the Macan and they are very different. I am honestly not sure if the lane keeping in innodrive is better or worse than what you get with the driver assist option as the wording is vague. Anyone have any insights into this?

My understanding that Drive Assist looses the LKA element of Innodrive as you mention but only as a result of having more advanced autonomous driving abilities including lane change etc (in regions that allow it).

My reading of the specs in the configurator is that Innodrive and Drive Assist are essentially identical and it's just a rebranding.

For the UK, though, it seems they have removed the option to have Drive Assist on the RWD and 4 models so you'd need to buy at least a 4S to get Drive Assist.
