or do you really have to order the $890 Glacier blue or Black light strip option just to get the coming/leaving home light animation?

It’s a bit confusing to me because while this option description highlights this animated light functionality for coming/leaving home, it also says “Note: Identical form and function to standard taillights” which to me suggests the same coming/leaving home functionality with only difference being the blue or black color of the PORSCHE lettering on the light strip.

You may be confusing two different functions:

One is just your usual Coming Home function that is standard (translation is not great):

Electric Macan EV Is the “Coming/leaving home light function” standard on the Turbo? 1737077916025-24

Electric Macan EV Is the “Coming/leaving home light function” standard on the Turbo? 1737077947895-p4

The other function is animation of the light bar that is only available if you upgrade to Black or Glacier, that is in addition to the above lights on for a period of time standard function.

What adds to the confusion for me is that the Turbo already comes with black PORSCHE lettering on the light strip as standard. So instead of the option being named “Light Strip with PORSCHE Logo in Black $890” I feel it should be named “Coming/Leaving light strip animation…” because that’s the real differentiator and the only differentiator if you choose the black one for a Turbo build.

Anyhow, thanks for clearing that up. I will make sure to check that box on my build.

I agree, it is confusing, but these are 2 separate things if you dig into it.

Porsche logo in Black is standard on a Turbo, which is just the text, but no other modification to the light bar itself.

However, what you are paying Exclusive Mfg department $890 for is the Circuit board graphics inside the light in Black and that animation.

Coming home function is standard on all Porsches.

The option for animation on the rear light bar comes when you option the rear illuminated logo.

You are confusing this with the 2025 Taycan. Macan EV does not have illuminated logo, yet, as seen below.

I have this on my Taycan. Letters light up when the parking lights or headlights are on. The welcome and good bye is just the animation the goes from center out or outside back to center. On the Macan, it does the same for the taillights but the lettering is black. I almost optioned this but preferred the stand out lettering.

You’ll see it in action in this video.

Everyone has personal choices and likes in many options that Porsche offers.
That's cool...

I picked up my Oak Green Macan Turbo last night. So far, I am smitten. Coming from the F80 M3.

I did select the "Light Strip with "PORSCHE" Logo in Black" with the animated Coming/leaving home light function. I noticed that it didn't seem to consistently work. A quick Perplexity search appears to indicate that:

" This animated light function is intentionally designed to operate only at night or in low-light conditions. The system uses ambient light sensors to determine when it is dark enough to activate the feature. During daylight or bright conditions, the animation and the accompanying light functions do not activate, as their primary purpose is to aid visibility and provide a welcoming effect in the dark "

This apparently intentional limitation to only work in low-light condition is a bit disappointing. Anyone else feels that way?

I was wondering why I never saw it when out and about, and I went to the car in the garage with the intent of finding the PCM setting to enable it. But of course, it works in my dark garage!

Adding the light sensor check seems needlessly complex for this feature.

It works the same in my Taycan. Took me awhile to find that out, too.
Does the Macan do anything for the headlights?

No. Nothing with the headlights.

4/22/update: Headlights actually squint a little.
