Well out of our 3 EV’s the Macan seems to go in fault mode when charging is started / stopped based on what the charging station decides, like to much load on the house, solar panels not giving enough or cheap hours … The iX and the ID3 restart reliable every time …
It seems to be better now, but it is always a gamble, and if I really need a charge, I just set everything off and select the charging power and leave off all the smart managing. Maybe the Porsche logic is you are allowed x number of stop/restart‘s during one physical connection kind of a protection against error’s, so they implemented a counter. This is just me second guessing, but curious if others have experienced this as well.

If it helps, I get a fault on the car (Red everywhere) and message from the App when I plug the car in and the charger is set for 'scheduled charge', it then might result in 'Vehicle Not Plugged in' message on the app. However, once the charger switches on at the scheduled time, the car bursts into life!

Once it is charging, normally within 5-10 mins, Octopus takes over and suspends the charge if it has a better schedule in mind.

I have a 2024 Andersen A2 unit and am with Octopus. They will not recognise my Macan EV Turbo (they say they may in due course) so I just plug it in and charge the car when I need it - nobody seems to want to help..! Very unsatisfactory..
New MY26 Turbo owner here with an Andersen A3 on Intelligent Octopus Go.

Just wondering if you or anyone else has actually managed to get all three working properly together? A mate of mine has a Turbo on Octopus too but with a very basic charger and he’s had no issues at all

I’ve been informed of one workaround where a non-compatible car is selected in the Octopus app, so I was curious whether anyone’s got the Turbo / Andersen / Intelligent Go combo working as it should.

Cheers 👍

My setup is different to yours but I’ve been surprised that’s it’s been essentially plug and go. I have a Zappi and I’m on IOG. I have the octopus app controlling the charge and, touch wood, it’s been perfect.

As another user reported, the Porsche app initially says “charging error” but within 5 minutes the octopus app shares the first draft of the charge plan.

Hope you get yours sorted. I had a little anxiety about having a full EV due to any charging quirks. So far so good though.

When you plug the car into any charger that supplies energy from Octopus you have two choices:

1. Turn off any control in the car and let Octopus manage charging the car at the cheaper rate
2. Ignore Octopus and let either the Charger or the Car control when to charge

Octopus would like you to use the first option. However, this might not work reliably if your Mobile signal at home isn't 100% good coverage. You will get a message that Octopus tried to control the car and it failed. You will get charged the day rate and not the economy rate.

Most Chargers have an app to control the car e.g. set 23:30 to 05:30. My Octopus Charger was initially like that but the provider disabled this feature as they no longer sell it - bit of a cheap trick IMHO. Initially the Macan EV could be set to finish charging by a destination time. That's now changed and you can set a start and end time. I set mine to start at 23:30 and finish at 05:30 and the car to be ready at 05:30

One issue with Octopus is that they control the charging by setting a departure time and then enabling/disabling it. The problem I had was the settings were not passed to the car reliably. A second problem is that they delete any other schedules.

I solved the issue by changing the Car's password so that Octopus can't make any changes. I get charging only in the cheap rate. The car will charge outside of the charging window if it thinks the charge cannot be completed by the departure time or if you arrive home with very low charge - they are quite sensible choices.

Do you think the password on the car could be the reason IOG can’t resume charging? I hadn’t thought of that…I may disable the password to check

Changing the password in the car means that after you set it up with Octopus Go, they can't make changes to the car so loose the ability to control it. Unless you think they have it 100% under control then that is a real advantage. I can't rely on my Mobile to flash the lights or unlock the car remotely at home so I'm not surprised that Octopus can't communicated with the car reliably.
