I guess one pedal driving could be available as an option considering different people’s preferences. However, I much prefer the way my Macan drives when compared to my wife’s Tesla. I think it has enough regenerative braking which simulates “ICE engine braking” when needed and coasts when opted to do it that way. I definitely don’t miss one pedal driving at all!

Agreed. I do think Porsche should give drivers the option, however another positive feature of no longer having strong regen is that my passengers don’t get motion sickness in the Macan EV. My family dreaded riding in my Tesla since they always got car sick with rapid deceleration and acceleration. It could have been my driving style but at least they’re much happier in the Macan! 😉

Yes for sure, that’s a good point- even with an experienced accelerator featherer- it’s just a different acc/dec curve and takes some getting use to. I ultimately think it’s the future, but one step at a time.

I don’t think one pedal driving will ever be the future of sport-driving cars like Porsche!

You could be right. I do wonder without a stick-shift, how much does it matter?

I’m not an experienced performance owner. The Y was the first car that had any real characteristics of a sports car. Before that, Subaru Outbacks.

I probably don’t know what I’m missing, what is it about one-petal that people feel is counter to sports-driving? In pure practicality terms it’s simple and convenient and makes driver feel in complete control - at least me.

if you skip past my stupid post to read @daveo4EV’s write up, you’ll get an explanation for why single pedal driving isn’t used at the elite levels

Ive never been on a racetrack though… and rarely gone above 100mph, so I cannot say if what he’s claiming has any veracity 😂. But seems reasonable to me as a Whole Foods shopper 🤓
