New Macan ICE being reconsidered

It will depend largely where you live (country) and what incentives there are to go electric. In UK there are none and if there is a new non EV Macan it will sell in bucket loads (as before) at the expense of the Macan EV. We still have the old ICE version on sale until the summer.

I doubt it would because of this:-

In the UK, new car ICE sales (equivalent to many of the Porsche ICE range) after 1st April 2025 will have a year one VED rate of £4,680 or £5,490 on top of the price that already has 20% VAT added.

In the UK, whilst it is true that the increase in the year one VED rate doubles for ICE cars from the 1st April 2025, there is a similar increase for all Porsche BEVs in years two to six because the premium (over £40,000) “stealth tax” e.g., £410/year for five years, also applies to all premium BEV for the first time.

1 in 4 EV take up is arguably very low VED penal measures will convince some.

Road tax appears for the first time this year for EVs also. Not a material cost but will inevitably rise.

Not wanting to repeat what has all been said in this thread but I am not surprised by such internal struggles within this (and other) car companies. Its going to take a while to settle in but the Macan is soooo fun to drive and the quality is solid so I think sales will pick up to what they hope for especially if they can increase efficiency (like they did with the Taycan) but keep cost about the same which should be possible with evolving battery cost per unit of range dropping for manufacturing resulting in better range for lower battery cost. Anyway, I guess we shall see but the main thing is that product is excellent so that's where you need to start.

Cost of a lease or contract hire includes the cost of VED over the agreement period e.g., over three years new registrations after April 1st will add £830 to the agreement for a Macan EV and £.2,340 or £2,745 for a Macan ICE. Registrations before this date are not affected.

Yes I'm familiar with rates and the cost over the period of hire will be lost on most.

Not everyone chooses these ownership options.
