if you prefer "software defined " you need an other car.
That's true and I agree with you it's hard to find anything better.
Which is not saying much about the car market in general.
This is why I ordered GTS as a replacement.

I'm honestly not expecting much though - just pease let me connect my app reliably to the car (today my app shows data from yesterday and I couldn't remote start the AC and had to go inside a crazy hot car) and please no bugs that try to kill be (like assistance systems doing crazy stuff). This is honestly not a high bar in terms of software in the vehicle. You need some level of SDV in EV to have a good experience. These two problems are not specific to my car, every loaner I had was similar in this regard. Plus I admit thought assistance systems got much better after latest update.

FWIW, one of my few candidates for replacing the Macan is a Rivian R2. I drove one yesterday (local suburban roads only). In that scenario, it drove surprisingly well. Steering was decent. Pleasant enough ride. Very nicely done interior. Lots of room. Comfortable seats. Very clear cameras including blind spot view when directionals are on. Very quick. Very quiet (subjectively quieter than Macan). A little over $60k loaded.

But but but. You cannot turn off one-pedal driving (opposite stubbornness to Porsche!). The big glass roof does not open, darken, nor have a shade. I hate hate hate having all the controls in the screen (probably would eventually get used to it). No HUD (and though IP is raised, not enough to make up for that). A/C seemed mediocre (and vent controls are also in screen, sigh).

The vaunted control wheels mounted in the steering wheel are interesting, but in practice annoying because it's hard to press them without also turning them at the same time. I was able to figure out Macan ergonomics immediately on my first drive. This car, no. No OTA would fix any of these design features (Well, I suppose they could fix the inability to shut off one-pedal driving if they chose to.)

I walked away from that drive thinking, I might need to keep the Macan.....
