I actually saw this color in the dealer's garage. Maybe this gives an impression without sun.

Thanks Dutch! This definitely looks a bit different than configurator images. It's a classic color but I'm not completely sure if it fits with all the plastic parts...

bbmertz, re your post above: “On the fence if I should add the $960 leather package (since it doesn’t add much leather…”

The wonderful thing about each of us configuring our cars differently is that we each make the final decisions and judgments. MY perception is that the extra leather is very much worth it. Guessing you would not have posted that sentence if you were not asking for others’ perceptions.

This to me is a heck of a lot of leather and also is the leather most closely located next to our bodies…

Fun TC, I appreciate your response since I am looking for suggestions.

What’s confusing about the leather package is that the standard interior includes many of the same items in leather, so I’m not sure it’s worth the additional $960 (see image below).

As far as I can tell, the only two added leather items are:
- Steering wheel airbag module
- Center console surround

In addition, the leather package changes the following two items from embossed leather to smooth-finish leather:
- Center console armrest
- Door panel armrests and grab handles

Thank you for pointing it out. I would head over to my Porsche dealer with this material you have gathered in handand ask them to clarify the seeming inconsistencies (other than we know that embossed is textured and smooth is not). Any Porsche leather specialists here who could assist us please?

@bbmertz / @Fun TC Driving - posts #62 through 64 on this thread (just a couple pages back) touched on the leather package vs full leather.

Alas not been able to get definitive answers - but on the plus side, in just a month the first Macans will be out. Hopefully will be easier then!

On a different note, what does everyone think about side blade options on a Volcano Gray Macan?

While most threads seem to recommend exterior color side blades, many think that the standard blades blend okay with dark exterior colors (particularly VC) avoiding the need to shell out another $680 for the painted option.

My vote goes to body color.

And if you want to avoid the extra $680 for this option, upgrade to the Turbo: body color side blades are free on that trim. 🙃

+1 for body colour (ordered per my spec) - but agree it depends on the exterior colour chosen and/or the ‘look’ you’re going for (eg B&W ‘Panda’ contrast).

For me, I just went for the off-road package as that ‘solved’ the problem for me, came with some other body painted front/rear bits added the roof rails (something that I just wanted blatantly just for looks).😆

Porsche’s configurator is one of the best in the market for good reason - inherently adept at making us spend more $$$ and making them an absolute mint at the same time.

Got word that my Macan 4 left the Panama Canal last week (Aug 8th) on its way to me in California.

Config: Macan 4 - standard with the following additions:

Dolomite Silver Metallic
Leather Package in Black/Chalk
Rear Axle Steering
Interior Trim in Brushed Aluminum
Augmented Reality Head-Up Display

I'm considering to change my configuration to Offroad setup, suiting my outdoors-oriented lifestyle and local winter conditions better https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PSY4ZUY4.

Does anyone have information on how Offroad package and rims impact range? Obviously they don't look as aerodynamic as default setup.

Any opinions on how Slate Grey Neo would work with Vesuvius Grey rims and default side blades in real life?

I'm wondering exactly the same regarding the wheels... I changed my build and my latest config is: https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PS81CKM7

Dont really like the 21 offroad wheels. Two different greys could be a problem - unless seen in nature.

Had same decicion with volcano grey. Went with offroad Package in body color and black roof rails. I like non of the 21 Inch wheels, 22 is not suiting my job in the Tyrolean mountains - so i choose the original macan S wheels.

My artist wife taught me something many decades ago, that two colors that are a little bit off clash. “They often create discomfort.” Ever hang a painting that ended up just a little lower or higher than the another one? Did you not move one to make them equal? Sure if you have them offset a deliberate and non-minimal amount they work well at different heights, but not if they are too close — for that will look like you made a mistake.

Ever seen a car with two not-to-different reds?

My opinion is that unless you have put side by side the two different grays, I would encourage you to do so first or choose another body or wheel color so that what you end up with is not uncomfortably too close to each other but looking like a mistake. Again, JMO.

I agree with you and maddoc, this config with two different grays is a risk. I'll visit local stealership tomorrow, they have samples of all colors and materials in the store so I can see how they work together. I made a 'safe' alternative setup with Macan S rims and offroad design painted as body color: http://www.porsche-code.com/PSVE9QZ0

Some other brands limits your choices to make untasty mixed colors, but with Porsche configurator you are on your own :)
