I’ve got my options in but was thinking of adding Porsche Electric Sport Sound. What’s people’s thought on this? Yes or no?

If your budget allows and you think you’ll like/use - then just get it.

It’s one of those options that I didn’t configure originally but my SA suggested I just include as it actually involves installation of an external speaker as well (not just sound piped inside). So if you want it later, it’d be substantially harder to retrofit (wiring, speaker, coding, etc). Tbh, I don’t use the sound much - usually in ‘Comfort’ mode anyway (default is Sound = ‘Off’) but I do enjoy it on those few occasions when it is on.

Have you heard actual sound on a demo car? That may make it an easier decision.

Only on YouTube sometime I think it sounds good and others not

Maybe just take a vehicle for a test drive to see how you feel when it’s connected to your driving input. Listening to a flat sound file may/will not give the ‘connected’ experience.

(I’m pretty sure most/all demo cars will have this option as Porsche it’s a relatively ‘easy’ sell for them).

Totally get it. Stupid yes, but super fun.

And also, it is based on the electric motor sound. So actually sounds right. Unlike that new charger which just sounds way dumb.

Also does everyone make sound at low speed as well, I assume as part of regulation that EV must make sound at low speed. If so, does sound better than the Tesla weird spaceship sounding thing they have on Model 3s.

it's fun sometimes and a "cheap" option by Porsche standards…but yeah if you want save a small amount of money you can skip it…

personally I think it's stupid that it's an option at all and it should just be included - even _IF_ you spec it you can turn it off so you're not forced to have the sound…

I say get it as it’s fun. It’s default on in sport mode so adds some additional emotional feeling when switching to sport. However, will you miss/regret it later if you don’t get it? Probably not.

that's automatic and included - it's required by regulations - so the sound is always "there" - the question is regarding if it's on when going faster than "n" mph/kph for external pedestrian noise…

European law requires EVs and hybrids be fitted with an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) to emit warning sounds at low speeds to alert pedestrians and other road users of their presence.

So, this is available nevertheless whether you get the option of electric sport sound or not.
