I am considering to switch. But I am hesitant.

Did that somebody? What are your experiences re. Space, cargo, tech features and reach … and sound system.

Many thanks.

The iX is better on all of those. More cargo, much roomier cabin front & rear, better range, less buggy software.

The Macan is much more sporty and much more aesthetically pleasing.

We have both, I used to drive the iX, now it’s my wife’s, you cannot compare the cars, but the iX is more efficient, more internal room, bigger battery and booth, the B&W is way way better then Burmester, it drives more comfortable And the software and app are way more developed with more features.
The Porsche drives more agile, more cocoon in the car, smaller And that translates in sportier drive … both are magnificent cars, if I could only have one, slight nudge to the iX. (I prefer the Porsche my wife definitely the iX). For road trips definitely the iX, the range and efficiency of that car are really a step above. Yes I know the Porsche charges way faster, but that is only under perfect conditions, which in summer holidays is not the case, charing stalls will cut on many chargers the power 1/2 and then battery size/efficiency is more important.

I had an iX and it was the single worst car I have ever had. We switched after 4 Teslas. Car went black and dropped dead in the middle of the highway. Had to fight with BMW for months to buy it back.

When you say the ix is more efficient how is that translating to distance? I am getting around 303 km +/- 30 km range per actual odometer reading burning down from 80% to about 20 % which is the range box people stay within in my Macan 4 depending on conditions which is slightly better than the model Y I had. What are you seeing in ix?

I can only translate to my driving and conditions with the iX on 22 inch wheels and the Macan on 20 …
If I drive comparable in both I see a minimum of 50km difference and I cannot say now as the winter conditions vary the range and also my wife is using the heating in the iX and I‘m freezing to death in the Macan to see similar range as the iX. But the math shows about the same or better efficiency in the iX with a 10% larger usable battery. If the new is more efficient due to new inverter and a bigger battery the difference could go up to 75 to a 100km …
But let’s hold reservation till April … still the iX has nicer 22 inch rims 🤷‍♂️

I had like a black screen the first month I had the car, but it drove perfectly and was resolved after update … 65k km without any issue, knock on wood … I’ve been already longer in the shop with my Macan, 4 weeks in total …

As a longtime BMW enthusiast and collector, I’ve driven and owned many BMWs. The iX is indeed a fantastic vehicle! The interior is more luxurious, the range may be better, it may even be faster 0-60, however, it does not compare to the Macan EV in two very important areas: 1) the overall driving experience and 2) the (subjective) aesthetics.
I love my BMW Ultimate Driving Machines, but for a compact (or even mid-sized Cayenne) SUV, there is no substitute for the Porsche.

This is a big reason I'm switching away from my iX. I just like the feel of the compact SUV (I absolutely loved my Jaguar i-Pace, but sold it when Jag announced they were going to switch focus). That Macan handles better, and the 4s accelerates better than the iX 55. I'm hopeful it won't have the same problem my iX does WRT CarPlay, where the car forgets the phone literally every other drive and you have to delete it on the phone to get it to re-pair.

I am sorry to hear that. For clarity not only did we have a black screen, but the entire car came to a dead stop from 65 mph in the middle of the highway.

BMW tried to tell me for several months that there was no issue and I needed to take the car back. I refused as I was not about to let my wife drive a car that stopped in the middle of the highway for no reason.

Once I said the word attorney they were more than happy to buy back the vehicle.

Unfortunately, this is the behaviour of CarPlay. I have the same behaviour with my Volvo XC 40 and with the Macan 4. the remedy at least for the Macan is to turn off Bluetooth on the phone and turn it back on and then reconnect the network on the phone and then CarPlay Picks it up. It’s actually a little more hit and miss on the Volvo . Either way I think this is an issue across the board probably because of the nature of Bluetooth.

Thats a real difference regarding the reach! Especially when u have in mind that the iX is now 3-4y on the market and the Macan brand new. And having in mind that the BMW LCI is coming soon ...

Does other have made the same experience?

In Germany's winter conditions the reach of my iX is down to 3-350km (ok ... using the highway with partially no speed limit) 😁

It's weird though, because I didn't have that problem until the 07/2023 update was installed. Prior that that wireless carplay was flawless.

Full disclosure, if my eMacan gets totaled tomorrow I'd get an iX instead.

Considering either the excellent lease deals on an iX or the excellent value of low mileage CPO cars, I don't think the eMacan (with worse range) is worth the price difference from the iX. We're talking 5 figures a year more to own an eMacan.

Now I'd never pay anywhere near MSRP on an iX but nobody should be.

Your lucky if you had that experience as I have never seen flawless behaviour with any Bluetooth dependent connection.
