I contacted Porsche Cars North America to see if I can add InnoDrive and ALK to my Macan EV post-purchase via OTA or Dealer Installed.

Sad news...

Here is their reply:

"Thank you for your question!

At this time your 2024 Macan EV is unable to utilize or signup for the function on demand services.

I apologies we don't allow this service for your Macan EV as it is only available for our Taycan models. At this time, we don't know if these function on demand services will be added to our Macans.

You may contact me at 1-800-PORSCHE with additional questions or concerns.

I would be very surprised if Porsche doesn’t activate FOD in the near future for Its cars based on the PPE platform.
Nowadays, subscriptions and upselling are part of its business model.
10-100 millions $ a year of pure EBIT is a bargain without doing anything…than software activation.

”With the new E3 1.2 electronic architecture, Audi customers experience the advantages of vehicle digitalization more immediately than ever before. E³ makes it possible to further increase the number, size and resolution of the screens in the vehicles. It is also designed for wireless updates (over the air) and for the addition of new features, for example, by offering Functions on Demand”

Sorry to hear they won't let you add Innodrive and ALK. On this thought, I wonder how the PPE platform on Audi and Porsche differ in their implementations with respect to driver assists functions? And on the Macan EV, how upgradeable (plug and play) are the hardware (sensors, processors, etc) and the software to allow future updates? Is there a path forward from PPE cars to the next platform cars?...

The Jan article on Motortrend states "...PPE is merely a stepping-stone on Volkswagen Group's march to becoming a pure EV producer. Learnings from PPE will be folded into a new platform dubbed SSP (Scalable Systems Platform). SSP is slated to replace both MEB and PPE with a single, highly modular, flexible software-defined architecture capable of underpinning all Volkswagen Group EVs, including everything from 114-hp city cars to 1,700-hp supercars.

However, massive software development problems at Cariad, Volkswagen Group's in-house software division, mean the launch of the next-gen SSP could be pushed back from 2026 to 2029 or even 2030—though that could mean longevity for this new batch of capable PPE models.
"

"flexible software-defined architecture capable of underpinning all Volkswagen Group EVs, including everything from 114-hp city cars to 1,700-hp supercars" sounds great but, but how realistic is that in the near future?
