I’ve looked and looked but can’t seem to find the option in Macan EV where the seat belt gives a nice hug as soon as the car starts driving (or perhaps when put on Drive). The dealership had turned it on upon delivery but I had to reset the car and now it’s gone.

As far as I know that's not configurable, it's a safety feature. One of the things it does it determine the physical size of the seat occupant so that it can properly tension the seatbelt when you're about to have a collision.

I think you will need to contact the service department.

It’s a feature they enabled at the dealership while walking me through features. It was right there on the screen, I just can’t find it now.

In that case should ask the dealership, and let us know too.

Never seen this option in the PCM either, and I have spent quite some time in it. Should that option actually exist there, we’ll all want to know about it.

The “belt hug” happens after you stated to drive and reached a certain (low) speed.

are you referring to the proactive occupant protection feature?

also, on the topic of seatbelts… why does it release smoke in the event of an accident??

is that to alert passersby to call 911 in the event that the driver is incapacitated? Good thing I stumbled across this while looking up the seatbelt tightening feature lol, otherwise I’d probably freak out if I started seeing smoke after an accident lol.

The pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner is similar to an airbag inflator. both release smoke when they fire. The difference is that most of the smoke is contained in the airbag (at least temporarily). There are vent holes in the airbag so the smoke will seep out.
ahh I see so it’s a side effect of quick deploy, not necessarily a built in feature
