Hi all,

I’ve just placed an order for a Turbo, will be switching from an Audi eTron GT, didn’t know if anyone has made a similar switch from such a low car and how they are finding the change in ride / ride height etc.

Have had a Q5 and Volvo XC90 before, do, love the design of the eTron but did find myself missing a higher ride height / SUV

Thanks in advance.

I switched from a Taycan GTS ST to a Macan Turbo about six weeks ago. I thought I would regret the decision but I'm very happy at the moment. The Macan is much better for daily use, and while my heart was saying Taycan, my head says Macan. The benefits of a comfier, higher ride outweigh the more planted ride of the Taycan, at least for every day driving.

Nice one, What wheels did you go from? I’ve gone for 22”s and slightly concerned about everyone saying how firm they are… 😬

22" RS Spyder rims. The car feels softer than the Taycan GTS on 21" rims.

My Macan Turbo is due to arrive in late April, and I will be swapping my current Taycan GTS for it. I hope I don’t regret it too. Based on my test drive of a Macan Turbo with 22“ wheels, it does seem to ride better than my Taycan GTS, but it did crash a bit on larger bumps and potholes where the Taycan did not. Mechanical grip seems to be better on the Taycan too as it was easier to make the tires screech with aggressive driving and the rear break lose upon corner exit on the Macan Turbo, but I actually like this playful quality. I’m still looking forward to the change as the Macan Turbo is still a supremely capable performer despite being taller and heavier. I welcome its added utility, easier ingress/egress, extra ground clearance, and smaller footprint.

In the next couple of weeks I’m moving from a 23 Taycan CT 4S to a Macan EV 4S also on 21 in rims. I’ve never been a fan of SUVs but the extended test drive seemed fine. Just got so fed up with 3 years having 2 similar cars with recalls faults and a range of barely 200miles in winter. Porsche need to sort out their customer care and some dealers attitude beggars belief - no you can’t have a loan car even though we messed up the timings - or a nasty 3 series bmw saloon when I need an estate- fingers crossed Macan is better - it’s also coming from another dealer!

I came from Panamera ST Turbo to a Taycan CT 4S (loaded with PTV+ PDCC, Rear Axle Steer, Sport Chrono, etc) and now in a Macan Turbo. 4 moths and 5k miles, no issue with the car since delivery.

Do you regret it? Yes and No. I have another SUV at home and a 911. The 911 is parked for winter, and I find myself driving my wife's RR more often than driving the Macan.

I miss the handling of the Taycan, and I miss the look of the Taycan. The ride quality of Macan and getting in and out of it is much better than Taycan, no question. Acceleration is much better than 4S, but I don't enjoy higher-speed bends as much as I did in the Taycan for apparent reasons. Macan looks amazing, especially in Turbo trim, but Taycan is something special as it just stands apart.

Hence, I spend more time in a comfy RR while my wife does her daily errands in the turbo.

I'll likely be going back to a Panamera (Hybrid this time) in the future, which, IMO, is as comfy as a Macan, easier to get in and out than Taycan, and handles as well as Taycan.

P.S. For those who think Macan range will be much better in the winter than a Taycan. I charge to 80%. In the morning, it shows 205 miles. The screenshot below is after driving 10 miles this morning, dropping a kid off at school (@ 15F/-10C)

I kind of wish there was a Panamera EV that was a Taycan with more room and function.

I have both now. (Taycan CT and a Macan EV).
I can't speak for eTron.

Taycan: drives better, more like a sports car, feels more premium overall, looks better (i think), in wagon form (CT) as usable as the Macan

Macan: much better efficiency / range, easier to get in and out of, quite a bit better software / systems, less recalls so far!

BTW: I had a j2 Taycan loaner for a couple months and the software / systems are not any better materially than the j1. the range is better, i think the macan is a little better yet.
