It will not show up on Carfax.

I'd ask for some compensation but I also thinks it's a 100% fixable problem. A free extended warranty or tire warranty or something would be a good call.

I get it's super frustrating but it's fixable and you should never notice the problem again nor will it effect resale. Cars being damaged somewhat in transit is very common, even in super high end cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini pre-delivery repairs are common.
Good. One further comment regarding resale. Although it will not show up on Carfax most people who are buying a car ask the question " has there ever been any damage or accident?" A fully transparent honest answer to that will at a minimum complicate your negotiation. It’s a point to bring up if the GM pushes back on compensation even if resale is not a big concern for you.

Thanks for the excellent advice. I've incorporated your suggestions in the email I've sent to the GM of the dealership. I'll let you know what happens.

Well, 5 days later I have a new tailgate latch so we can open the trunk again. And I can drive without incessant beeping.

However, after this fix, the tailgate still won’t close without a brute force slam. Service explained the tailgate motor was damaged as part of the repairs Porsche made at the port before we received the car. So, we have to return in 10 days after the new motor arrives. They couldn’t say how long this would be.

As you can imagine, knowing we were given a brand new, damaged car that continues to inflict inconvenience is a bit crazy making.

I am going to Write to the GM explaining the situation and ask for compensation. Is this the right thing to do? I need advice as this is my first Porsche.
I’ve recently had my car in for this very issue. Multiple cars had the slamming issue. Mine also had an opening issue as well. I’ve had my car back for a week and the issue appears fixed. Ask your dealer service about this issue because you’re not alone. See also this link https://www.macanevowners.com/forum/threads/key-fob-in-front-of-car-tailgate-wont-close.20371/

Had my tailgate failed opening in the first month, after repair it opened just a bit but failed to open completely as only one “motor“ or side seem to be lifted and now if I do not open the tailgate for a week or more, it opens but stops like 20 cm open, then I close it and then it opens … so a weak spot … need to be fixed … but the issue is it’s not reproducible …
