My base Macan RWD on 20-inch standard wheels has started giving better consumption. Encouraging for winter and still early days as I have only clocked 525 miles so far.
We all have different preferences, choices, but I'm surprised some are knocking me down getting RWD for lack of performance, not good in snow etc etc.
Even though it's a known fact, winter/snow tyres are far more important than just the all-wheel drive (even though I know it helps).
Performance wise, it far exceeds my expectations and way better than my last i4 eDrive 40, also RWD.
My first booking was for Macan 4, but when the base RWD version was announced, I was able to change my order to RWD. Even overall cost was the same after speccing it to my liking, Macan 4 cost was a bit less actually.

Here you will find it.

Nice write up. Pretty much mirrors my experience. Regarding the passenger seat belt, there is a plastic slide that raises the buckle. Raise that up as far as it will go and it will no longer bang against the seat. No need to buckle the passenger belt.

Regarding the Burmester option, it’s not worth it. Sounds a bit better than the Bose, but still inferior to Tesla’s.

I have been surprised with the Bose system in a good way. Most Bose systems sound pretty average and they are everywhere in many car manufacturers. I have to imagine there are different levels of the Bose systems.
We have a Tesla model Y performance and I had the Meridian system in our Rivian. The Macan Bose beats out the Rivian and I would say is on par with the Tesla. Tesla has better sound stage, but I think the Bose does better with vocals and tighter bass.. so I call it a wash.

I have a black turbo on 20 inch Macan S wheels and consumption isn’t any better 😉 like 2.6 mi per kWh …
thanks, this is good to know! Albeit I imagine your ride comfort / road noise is much better.

Great write up, @Yorksjar. Thanks for posting.

I'll be picking up my new Macan Turbo in Volcano Grey and 22" RS rims in one week today. Can't wait.
Congrats!! You’ll love it. The car is a wonderful achievement from Porsche and a real step forward for BEVs becoming driving machines.

I think the RWD is a great shout. Couldn’t agree more on the tyres - I am struggling to find decent all season tyres for the 22s which is a real headache. The only thing I think having both axles driving gives you is more confidence on all season tyres or even summer tyres, all year round (UK). When I had the M2 I had to put M+S on to drive with confidence on snow. Speaking openly, I’m lazy and I don’t like having to store and swap wheels and tyres - I just want to get in my car and drive 😅

Your stats are only reinforce your RWD choice. I have shown below a long trip and your consumption is significantly better. I knew I would be sacrificing consumption and was fine with it - overnight charging rates, tax relief etc. means I can get my driving thrills for a fraction of what they’d cost in a compatible ICE car. That said, every penny counts these days and over the course of ownership you’ll save a fortune!!

Yes, I’m sure of it, and less stress on curbing them.
Yesterday I drove my Macan without heating and got 3.1 mi/kwh … (only seat and steering wheel)
