Tire lottery - satisfaction measurement. What factory tires are on your Macan EV?

Here is what we are throwing on the winter 20" wheels. I prefer the Ice-X but these worked better for me than the scorpion when blasting up the ski roads. Ordered winter set a couple weeks ago, but not sure when I will see them. Running 21" Off-roads in the summer with hi perf summer rubber.

Update, wintwr wheels and tires were in at parts today when we signed our lease. Car not ready yet, but will be next week. Took similar configuration out for test drive. Plenty nice and comfortable as well.

I think that the composition of a winter tire is softer than that of a summer tire. If you do not experience that the Bridgestone is stiffer, this will certainly not be the case with their winter tire. However if you do experience it as I do, I would definitely choose a different brand. Maybe a test of winter tires helps?

I was under the impression that summer tires are softer, therefore stiffening the rubber in the colder months.

I looked it up at at the tire centre and this is what they write:

“The winter tire reacts completely differently than a summer tire to low temperatures. The winter tire remains soft and flexible, while the summer tire becomes stiff and hard. The grip and flexibility is gone, causing the tire to slide over the asphalt, instead of the rubber making contact with the contact surface.”

“At low temperatures the winter tire remains soft and flexible, which means it deforms more easily in cold temperatures, creating more grip. The winter tire also has a coarser profile. If you look closely you will see that the profile has very small slats, a kind of scoops, that can grab and remove more snow. A disadvantage is that due to this softer rubber composition, winter tires will wear harder at higher temperatures in the summer and will make more noise while driving.”

You’re right for the second part, summer tires stiffen in the winter.
Winter tires however have a softer compound, that’s why the don’t stiffen that much in the winter.

I spec'd my Turbo with 21" summer tires and received Michelin Pilot Sport EVs. I haven't had the opportunity to really test them yet, but I'd say road noise is slightly higher than I expected.

@DuckMan would love to know your impressions of the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5, I'm going to buy them as well.

Will do, still awaiting the car with it 21" inch off-road summer shoes. However 20" wheels and winter tires are likely to go on soon as temps starting to hit freeze points at night. I had Alpin before and found them better than the equivalent scorpions. When are you making your order?

Yep, that's what I'm ordering.

As much as I like the look of the larger wheels (I ordered my Turbo with 22 inch Macan Sport wheels), the tires are wide (255/295), so less than ideal for winter use especially in snow. Even the 21s have 255 fronts. So while still wide at 235/285, the 20s are your best bet for winter traction.

I would have done these, got the uglier ones I think, but will be packed with snow and slush anyway so no big deal.
