true to form - the ABB charger is offline - but the uni-cord charger worked flawlessly!

First and foremost - thank you so much for such a detailed accounting of your trip.

2 questions if I may:

1) Electric door release: I was under the impression the inner door handles were standard and not push to release like Tesla.
Silly question- when the turn signals are on, are the rear turn signals animated as you’d see on an Audi, or standard flashing?
you’re welcome

the handles are a pull handle - but the release is electronic trigger by the handle pull - as to if they are duel mechanical / electronic like taycan i don’t know - more testing is required - a few times i’ve just been fighting the door - grrr

blinker i don’t know i’ve never been behind car while driving - i’ll see if i can test it!

blinker is not animated - it just flashes when i just did a stationary test!

Well in my case it was because something was actually approaching the car, so it’s a safety mechanism. I was parked alongside road with passing traffic …

last segment today - Las Vegas, NV to Santa Cruz, CA - according to apps really good charging choices all along the route - we'll see - the trip log is coming to an end!

[*]sun shade open/close buttons are bit wonky - but they work
They are funky. I test drove my 5th different EV Macan yesterday (I have issues) and noticed them. It's kind of funny how they're just two giant stand alone buttons, very Mercedes-esque, but I actually kind of like it. I often find sunroof controls confusing because I'm old and dumb, so these are perfect for me.

Mostly I'm just very excited for an EV with a sunroof that opens and has a built in shade! The panaromic roofs are cool, especially for rear passengers, but I love having the sunroof open on a nice day and the shade is a must for my pup.

Barstow Wall Mart - best charging experience _EVER_
  • pull in
  • 1 of 8 stalls occupied
  • we take stall #5
  • we're at 14% SOC / 85F battery temp
  • plug in - and we promptly ramp up to 275 kW (yes 275!!) - and we hold that until 27%

Glad you were finally able to experience what I did on my road trip mentioned on page 1 @daveo4EV!
Seems the network still needs much work in the middle of the country - my experience is that it works pretty well on the "coasts".

last charging stop is behind us - home is next!! Grand Canyon, Kingsman, Henderson, Barstow, Lost HIlls - all of these EA sites have the single cord "uni-cord" charging stalls - and had flawless charging experiences at each and everyone of them!!

there is hope for the future.

Macan Turbo is an easy 230 mile EV - and 280 mile EV at North American interstate HWY speeds - two stops for home from Henderson, NV is mighty impressive - and one stop doesn't really count cause we ate lunch and the car was ready before we were!!

what a trip!!

I also just stopped at a new EA site with 4 uni-cord cables. All 350s. 2 were occupied and pumping, mine also worked super well. The 4th seemed to be working.

Maybe they're on to something.

the 250 kw charging site in this picture is a Tesla Supercharger - not magic dock site - i’ve noticed during the entire trip that super chargers are presented on the PCM navigation map

hmmmmm…..maybe we get super charger access sooner rather than later

we will see!

carplay in the HUD - seems to be pretty complete - the only that seems to be missing vs. PCM nav is the anmated "turn" arrows - but turn by turn, lane suggestions, and even the map in the center scope display is supported with AppleMaps

integration is good! we have been using both - but PCM nav has ruled the trip for 2 reasons:
  • battery % estimate at destination
  • I'm assuming if the car "knows" it's going to a charger that battery is pre-conditioned for fast charging - although there is no confirmation of this - so it's just speculation on my part based on my Taycan
but AppleMaps in Car play:
  • shows up in the HUD
  • map w/route can be displayed on the "Map" view on the driver's dash board display
Carplay AppleMaps will be my "daily map" for trip computer, and sometimes actual navigation - I'll use PCM NAV when actually road-tripping to needing to know range/battery/charging information.
