Geez, I'd understand such measures for some African republic (no offense, just facts), but what exactly are you guys dealing with in the UK? Is theft at Mad Max levels?
Lot of high performance cars get stolen. If one is stolen in your area, insurance premium goes up unless you have a tracker. In some areas you may be able to afford price of new Range Rover but not insurance

No idea. My car is nearly 4 weeks at dealer. Only drove it for a week. Took delivery early September. First Macan EV rejected in March. By the way, whats the rear motor recall. I have a 4S as well.
No idea - read about the recall - mentioned to Technician and he confirmed- so apparently unless I break down nothing can be done until end of October ( no loan car) or end of November if I want a loan car - memory of 3 years of Taycan ownership is flooding back? Wonder if anyone at Porsche GB is reading this? Should I contact them?

To be clear, you neither did receive post from Porsche nor recall on website via VIN? In terms of loaner, if you are waiting for software fix as well I would make sure you get one. Mine is waiting for software update since 3 weeks.

Nothing in post - nothing on website- not risking foreign trip with range down to 240 and warning of main battery issues - would you?

For sure not. Guess I put rear engine on my to do list as well. Let’s wait for the all problem solving software update, it apparently brings world peace as well.

I had a chat with a close friend of mine who’s a software engineer at a publicly listed company that also works with batteries and related hardware — similar to what we’re dealing with here.

According to him, if the issue were purely software-related, Porsche should technically be able to make the issue "reappear" manually to all affected vehicles running the same software version, including other cars without the problem. However, if that’s not the case, it’s more likely a hardware-related problem — for example, something causing irregular power flow to the battery or similar faults.

In some cases, they might release a “targeted” software update that only addresses specific vehicles with that exact issue, rather than pushing it to everyone.

So, the takeaway is that it’s really important for all of us to double-check whether we’re receiving the same update versions as MY26 cars. If some cars get different updates isolated to our issue, that could point to underlying issues or inconsistencies in how the fixes are applied later on.

Not sure how much of this applies directly, but I thought it was worth sharing.

They tried the same approach at my dealership — saying it was just a software issue and suggesting I take the car back. I told them I’d be happy to do that if they could put it in writing that there wouldn’t be any safety risks if the problem happened again.

Long story short: a loaner car suddenly became available. I’d recommend doing the same.

Must be a coincidence - my car is 7 months, totally faultless. Got in today and had that exact message. Then it went red and I couldn’t select drive. Turned off, got out the car, locked it, opened it and everything was normal and good. Range has remained stable throughout.

The car is booked in for the rear motor ‘campaign’ mid Oct so if it doesn’t happen again I’ll mention it then. If I get it again I’ll call the dealer but the car may be immobilised if it is reporting an actual major issue and not a software ‘glitch’.
What is the "Rear Motor Campaign"?

CHP - I do have a Vodafone tracker, fitted by Porsche. Mine was fitted in Feb 25. I did have a notification earlier the same day as the warning that the car had been started without the fob present. This wasn’t correct so I do wonder if the tracker did somehow interfere with the car systems.

I had no issue this morning so I have fingers crossed.

My car is going in for the rear motor campaign so I’ll ask about the ‘battery integration’ update.

Probably unlike in the US, car thefts in the UK are common place as police have no interest in recovering cars or catching the scroats. Last year only 2.2% of the cars stolen resulted in criminal charges. (Yes that is not a typo - 2.2%). Those charged were probably housed in hotels for free along with the illegal immigrants.

Ridiculous comment at the end!

There is a problem with the rear motor wiring harness on the Turbo and 4S models. The clamp that secures it is too small, potentially causing pinching and damage to the insulation.
Does this affect all Turbo and 4S?

I honestly don't think so. I haven't heard of anyone around here having their performance car stolen for many years, and given the electronic locks/keys of these vehicles, plus built-in locators and immobilizers, you'd need access to very custom parts to make them driveable in whatever area you would resell them in.

Or maybe it's just that most of the resale for the stolen cars are far away from the US West Coast, and there are easier pickings/export opportunities elsewhere?

Just had report from Porsche triage.
Software issues - ‘battery integration’ and rear motor recall. No loan cars until end November- booking now end of October - no loan car! Will have to use wife’s car for French trip next week- not good enough is it??
Better than having worries on the road. Safe travels and let us know if the issues are resolved at the end!
