Hey guys, i was just wondering what your seating position is in the macan EV? Since I only owned sportscars at this point, my seating position tends to be as low as possible. That normally doesn’t add up for SUVs.

Do you prefer to seat as low as in a sportscar or do you prefer the better visibility when seating higher?

You kind of have no choice but to sit as low as possible because the steering column doesn’t go that high up and you’d block the gauges. I think Porsche did this on purpose to have drivers sit lower and feel more sporty. I’d sit higher if I could without blocking the gauges personally.

Porsche say that they Macan EV seating is a lot lower than the ICE. Having had a Range Rover I am used to a high seat but as prime said, the steering wheel doesn’t go high enough - it is the only car I have had that adjusts the steering wheel so low. It’s not a real problem though as I have the HUD.

I’m 6’4” and have the 14 way seat adjusted for maximum legroom. It’s actually quite tricky to get to a comfortable spot having to adjust the back, height and angle of the bottom. Maybe I’m missing something but I just fit comfortably or I’m not used to it yet as I only got the car last week.

I also find the angle of my foot on accelerator is more upright than I’m used to. I vaguely remember the 18 way seat was a little better on the foot in a test drive back in September.

Compared to my model s plaid the seat needed some getting used to. The plaid felt like TV chair, i instantly got along with it. The macan feels somewhat different. More sporty, less comfort but without being really uncomfortable. Don’t know if this is angle related or something.

I have preset 1 to a higher position in which I can see the front fenders, which is useful when parking or squeezing thru a tighter space. I have preset 3 set to my "highway" position which is low and back with a little more recline.

I have the 14 way seats and have driven as many as 14 hours consecutive with occasional breaks for charging. No back pain whatsoever, which I find a little shocking. I'm 6'7" and have always had back pain on long trips without exception. I did however have considerable discomfort on the sit bones after a few hours without a break, which I have not had in other cars. This pain disappears completely after a few minutes outside the car.

In all I have found these to be the most comfortable car seats for long distance driving I have ever experienced.

Good to know as I too suffer from lower back pain.
How was the consumption like in that 14-hour stint?

I found the lumbar control to be a godsend and essential to long distance comfort. Because I am unusually tall the lumbar support in the seats of other vehicles I've driven does not line up with the back area where I need support. Being able to change the vertical position of the lumbar support is a fantastic feature. I found over the course of the drive that the spot in my back where support was needed changed over time. Adjusting the support position to address that need was critically important for me and worked wonderfully.

As to consumption, it was mixed and quite significantly effected by outside air temperature. This is for a Macan 4S with about 1000 total miles. The road trip was in winter conditions (15-25⁰ F) and outbound the usable range I got between 80% and 20% SoC was about 150-160 miles on highways at 80-85 mph sustained. Milder weather on return (40-55⁰ F) was close to 200 miles for that same SoC range.
