Pro tint shop should be able to measure rear windows and match the fronts using a simple device.

Yea, the shop would easily be able to tell, unless you plan to do it yourself... But i think most SUV's have a factory 20% on the rears

I thought all modern car glass has UV protection. That's why they're a slight tint of green and not clear white like the cars of the 90s.

That's what I thought too but I've been told it is the front windshield only. Probably trying to sell me on extra tint

Anyways I'm getting 70 on the rears and 30 on the fronts (legal in Texas). It will be a bit two tone but not too far off.

Has anyone found a tint film that matches the color tone of OEM Porsche privacy glass?

I got Xpel XR Black 55% on my car yesterday, it looks good but it doesn't quite match the factory tone. I know the factory glass is much darker than 55%, I just want the same color tone. The factory looks more bronze/brown than green/blue

This is correct. Factory tint is about 20 percent and is color only. If you want to add UV rejection, you’ll need to add a 70 percent on top of that.

I tinted the fronts with a top-of-the-line Xpel 35 percent which is the darkest legal tint in Colorado. will see how it does with UV and heat rejection in the summer before considering doing the rears.

Years ago I learned from a friend who then owned a tint shop that I was visiting, that from the outside we can get fooled as to our estimate of its VLT, He asked me to come outside and at two nearly identical Accords, then asked me to guess their light transmission ratios. I said that one looked like 35 and the other like 20. He said they are both 35 but the one you guessed at 20, opening its door, howed me that had a black interior — and the other one as he opened its door, had a very light gray interior.

He agreed that sitting inside of both, looking out the same direction, the 20 VLT car would appear significantly darker.

If you live in an area where local enforcement sometimes gives out tickets and considering either the light-to-dark of your upcoming interior choice or the darkness of your planned tinting, just something to consider if you have concerns about your potentially being stopped by enforfcement.

XR Plus. Better heat rejection, better optical clarity and reduced signal interference over the black. I don’t really have any full side view shot in good light, but FWIW, the color looks to me like it matches. Just a hair lighter due to being only 35% instead of 20%

If you want to add UV rejection, you’ll need to add a 70 percent on top of that.

XR Black Plus 70 is 2 Mil thick versus 1.5 Mil thick for all of the other XR Black and XR Black Plus tints. I'm thinking about buying XR Black Plus 70 for the entire car and I'm curious if anyone has had a problem with the thickness.

Good question. The answer needs to specifically address there being or not a problem with or without the thermal/acoustical thicker double glass?
