5kW - this is not ideal - nice idea but slower than home charging at a not insignificant cost. 7.4kW works out at around 0.3 miles of range / minute of charge so this will be 0.2 or so - 12 miles an hour :-(

I picked a random AC charger in London to demonstrate how the app works. I'm not recommending it as a place to charge. Indeed, after four hours you then start getting charged per minute as an overstay fee. These chargers are clearly better for Porsche PHEVs.

Thanks all for their input on this, I made the noob mistake of starting charging on the charger itself.
So I now have a to do list when charging:
1. Check the app to see if it's part of network.
2. If yes, use the Porsche card to try to start the charge on the charger so Porsche are charged then me.
3. If doesn't work then try the Posrche app to start the charge with fee by selecting the network charger.

This is correct.

IONITY is a joint venture of the car manufacturers BMW Group, Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Group, Mercedes-Benz AG, and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche, along with BlackRock but the payment and charging options offered by each car brand are not all the same, so YMMV.

The PCS Plus rate for preferred charging (now without blocking fees) is ÂŁ0.39 compared to the equivalent BMW Plus rate ÂŁ0.33 and the Mercedes rate of ÂŁ0.53 - ÂŁ0.62. That makes the BMW rate look very favourable and the Mercedes (currently) look the least favourable to potential buyers.

The other PCS Plus change was AC charging at ÂŁ0.44 (was ÂŁ0.54) and DC charging at ÂŁ0.59 (was ÂŁ0.74) and the lifting of blocking fees at preferred partners.

New owners of Macan BEV benefit from 3 years of membership of the Porsche Charging Service Plus where the preferred partner is IONITY. Compared to other BEV car brands that is quite good e.g., BMW Plus includes only one years free membership, Mercedes me Charge L also has only one years free membership.

If you buy a Used Macan or continue the PCS Plus Service after 3 years then the current price has dropped to ÂŁ13.99/month (was ÂŁ29.99/month. That compares to other car brands e.g., BMW Plus is ÂŁ5.49/month and Mercedes me Charge L is ÂŁ10.90/month.

Outside of car brand offers, there is IONITY Direct or monthly options for IONITY Passport Motion and IONITY Passport Power. For a lower or no monthly membership, the rates are higher but for casual access e.g., mostly "charge at home", they might be a better alternative because you can pay monthly when you need it and cancel or switch between memberships as required.

Did you try starting the charge from within the Porsche app, as in not scanning the QR code, just finding the charger in the Porsche app and pressing “start for a fee”?
When I got to the stage below, I intuitively pressed scan to charge as that was the logical next step, but got that error message I mentioned earlier.
Now that what you described I should do, it worked. But to get to that stage of “start for a fee” there were a couple of more steps to take. Porsche App is a bit of a meh there. Anyway, I managed to get there. Thanks.
In the end, discounted rate for just 4 hrs is nothing to write home about, and as per App, it's charging at 3.0kW :( I never get “up to 5.0kW” claim at these street poles!
I will be stopping after 4 hrs. I may as well just use ubtricity at ÂŁ0.49 and leave the car there for at least 12 hours or so to get to 80%
Thanks again.

Yes.
But unfortunately, not all have the luxury of somewhat faster home AC charging. Like some, I live in a flat. So, for me, It's either this and/or discounted Ionity/ Porsche Centres charging.

Without a home based EV ecosystem I would not have switched to an EV 4 years ago- makes no sense (currently) otherwise.

Ubitricity is 100% owned by Shell. They say ”ubitricity is one of the leading providers and operators of innovative public EV charging solutions” and “It is easier and more cost-effective for EV drivers to use long dwell times to charge at fast or lamppost charging points (AC)“. That also say “Lamppost, bollard, fast & rapid charging, we’ve got it all” and “We’re on a mission to make EV charging accessible for everyone”.

Soon to be rebranded, as/with Shell Recharge, what’s not to like?
