Well, I appreciated others sharing their experience here when I was still waiting so I'll re-pay that with a quick initials thoughts post.

This is my first Porsche. My last car was a well specc'ed Q7, nearly 9 years old at the end. This is my spec:

Porsche additional special metallic -
Oak green
Leather - Black
Adaptive air suspension
Privacy glass
Side window trims in silver
20" Macan S alloy wheels painted in high-gloss black
Aluminium roof rails
Sideblades in body colour
Panoramic roof system - Electric tilt/slide glass sunroof
Heated rear seats
Adaptive cruise control
Electrically extending towbar system
Side airbags in rear compartment

Negatives: I should have picked the Bose sound system. I like my music and loud and I probably was spoiled with my last car, which had Bose with a massive subwoofer. The sound of the Porsche Standard setup is very good, when the car is stationary or you don't like it loud. I suspect the standard setup is Bose without the Sub. I'd retrospectively fit the sub if that was an option. It really needs it. But thats it in terms of downsides!

Positives: Many. As a whole this is in a different league from any previous car Audi I have owned. The way it handles in corners and bends is mind-blowing to me! Now I just want to go round corners to experience the handling over and over again. :like: Everything feels so solid when driving. Phone integration, displays and the quality of everything is outstanding. I had not test driven one before. Didn't think it would influence my decision. I had great expectations of a Porsche and they all came good!

Power: It is still running in I guess but I'd say the 4 has plenty for having fun on the roads and taking off quickly. The 4S and Turbo must be something else. Power is available instantly and linear. No gear changes. It goes like a Batmobile I keep saying to folk. The sound is quite futuristic. It's a Porsche for a new world, and in my view it is leading that world. It is so much fun and clean at the same time.

Design: I had my eye on the Q6 initially, but when I saw one on a forecourt I was seriously disappointed, especially the rear sides. The Macan has a beautiful design, better in the flesh than in any photos or videos I had seen. It's the best Macan design yet, I'd say. The way the rear wheel arches come out looks amazing. I keep going to the window when it is parked outside and admire it.

Paint: After weeks of agonising I picked Oak Green. My kids were both dead set against black or greys. They both said a Porsche is a special car it needs a paint that stands out. Oak green does plenty of that. Everyone who has seen it loves it. It's soo classy, and changes with the changes of the natural light around it. I am relieved I chose the silver window surrounds and roof rails. The combinations works really well. Over the moon with my choice.

Wheels: 20in Macan S - Given our poor road surfaces and the endless potholes it's the right choice. Look great to me and drive very comfortably.

Congrats on taking delivery, and thanks for the input on your experience so far.

I’d love to see some more pics. Are the aluminum roof rails and window surround a matte/flat finish? I’ve selected those on my order, but haven’t seen them in person.

They are only a Matt finish on the Turbo I believe.

Glad you're loving it. Sorry you didn't get the Bose - it's amazing.

And I agree - I came from a Q5 TDI for the last 10 years and was expecting to go Q6, but saw some things I definitely did not like, and LOVED the Macan. I ordered mine in February last year when they started taking orders, and took delivery in September last year. Almost 6,000 miles on it and I love it.

Personally, I have found the Bose implementation on 2 Macan EVs that I've driven to be below par and potentially a poor installation compared to others 911, Panamera and Taycan.

Not sure there's any "running in" to be worried about and the only thing that will improve initially will range and recuperation.

Enjoy!

We love ours so far!
tiny wishes
  1. I wish it had 3" more rear seat legroom, right?
  2. Gearshift would be better on the column and could be enhanced to light up the P when you press it. The DNR is not very visible
  3. Seats are hard, we have 14w maybe the 18 would have been better
  4. I think I'd like the auto charger port so I don't drive away with it open all the time - probably just my issue
  5. Just let we switch driver profiles without a confirmation:)
  6. Piano glass - no thank you - that area would be a bit better and the under storage is pretty hard to use.

Nice review and I agree with you, especially about the color (-:

My mother-in-law just got a Q6, and I was tempted before getting the Macan. That Audi has more features and technology for at LEAST $20k less imho. Same heads up display standard with the $5k premium plus package- that alone is a $2.5k option on the Macan.

But- while the Audi looks "ok" (except the front), the Macan is beautiful. I love looking at it. And, the Q6 is "solid", but the Macan just keeps saying "lets go!" when you're on a nice road. I followed a GT3 RS on a canyon road for as long as I could, and forgot I was in an SUV. I kind of thought the driver of the other car was thinking WTF I can't shake that little Macan behind me!

The 18 way sport seats are hard too though.

With that front, no wonder they put a bow on it - the front looks like the sort of car you would win in a raffle !

FYI.. I have the 4S. It's a BEAST! I was just merging on the highway today and wanted to get past some traffic. I hit the accelerator in 'normal' mode and then glanced down at the speedometer. Before I knew it, I was at 110 MPH!!! I couldn't believe it because it felt solid and like I was going maybe 80.. I had to slow down quickly or get a ticket. I've had it for almost 5 months now and I wouldn't go back to an ICE car. I had the Macan S previously and had a 911S Cabriolet for 7 years. This thing ticks ALL the boxes in terms of being both practical and a blast to drive. I just saw a large number of fantastic reviews of the Lucid Gravity (not to mention the Chinese cars that we can't get). Between this car and that one, I think the future is clear. It's largely EV's except maybe for large trucks/Lorries .. maybe even then. I'm keeping an eye on Hybrid/solid state batteries .. if those come in, goodby ICE cars.. Tariffs or no Tariffs.. One can say 'drill baby drill' all you want.. it's gone.
