Well, I appreciated others sharing their experience here when I was still waiting so I'll re-pay that with a quick initials thoughts post.
This is my first Porsche. My last car was a well specc'ed Q7, nearly 9 years old at the end. This is my spec:
Negatives: I should have picked the Bose sound system. I like my music and loud and I probably was spoiled with my last car, which had Bose with a massive subwoofer. The sound of the Porsche Standard setup is very good, when the car is stationary or you don't like it loud. I suspect the standard setup is Bose without the Sub. I'd retrospectively fit the sub if that was an option. It really needs it. But thats it in terms of downsides!
Positives: Many. As a whole this is in a different league from any previous car Audi I have owned. The way it handles in corners and bends is mind-blowing to me! Now I just want to go round corners to experience the handling over and over again.
Everything feels so solid when driving. Phone integration, displays and the quality of everything is outstanding. I had not test driven one before. Didn't think it would influence my decision. I had great expectations of a Porsche and they all came good!
Power: It is still running in I guess but I'd say the 4 has plenty for having fun on the roads and taking off quickly. The 4S and Turbo must be something else. Power is available instantly and linear. No gear changes. It goes like a Batmobile I keep saying to folk. The sound is quite futuristic. It's a Porsche for a new world, and in my view it is leading that world. It is so much fun and clean at the same time.
Design: I had my eye on the Q6 initially, but when I saw one on a forecourt I was seriously disappointed, especially the rear sides. The Macan has a beautiful design, better in the flesh than in any photos or videos I had seen. It's the best Macan design yet, I'd say. The way the rear wheel arches come out looks amazing. I keep going to the window when it is parked outside and admire it.
Paint: After weeks of agonising I picked Oak Green. My kids were both dead set against black or greys. They both said a Porsche is a special car it needs a paint that stands out. Oak green does plenty of that. Everyone who has seen it loves it. It's soo classy, and changes with the changes of the natural light around it. I am relieved I chose the silver window surrounds and roof rails. The combinations works really well. Over the moon with my choice.
Wheels: 20in Macan S - Given our poor road surfaces and the endless potholes it's the right choice. Look great to me and drive very comfortably.
