These observations may be obvious to many of you but I am posting for the benefit of some new owners who may be just learning how many options their new EV has.

Last night, in the middle of the night, my car alarm went off!
Turns out the phone holder that sticks to my dash had lost suction and fallen onto the passenger seat setting off the cabin alarm.

I went out to the car and turned off the alarm.

In the morning I received the two notices below.

How can this be? I only checked on the car and went back to bed!

Again, I have had the car six months and am still figuring out all of the options.

Solutions to both of these problems:

Change the "Climate" setting for "Preheat seat when unlocking the vehicle" .

Go to Settings - Vehicle settings - Vehicle Locking systems and turn "Interior Monitoring" to off

AND,

Turn "Check Interior monitoring upon exiting" to on.

Here's one I learned recently whilst playing with the cruise control options.

When Lane Keep is on with Innodrive, and you signal to pull around a car that you've slowed down a bit for, the acceleration starts immediately back up to cruising speed as you start the lane change

However, if Lane Keep is off, the acceleration only happens once you're in the new lane.

Note: I'd love to have a visual indication in the HUD of when the car in front is about to affect my speed, so I can change lanes sooner and avoid this. I do like to keep a fair distance back, so this is hard to judge manually.

i just wish they made the acceleration softer... It's like FULL throttle as soon you start to move over...
i don't need all that

Whilst it’s not in the HUD, one of the options for the driving display shows (albeit very small) the speed of the car in front - see d below.

I don't need to know their speed. I need to know that I am about to get close enough to them to affect my speed, so I can decide to pull out, or stay in place as traffic passes me and allow the system to slow me down.

This is worse due to me using the long end of the range for the gap to the car in front, which is harder to judge. Presumably I'll get a feel for this distance over time, but with all the other graphics available, an extra one to show when that distance is about to be reached would allow for smoother driving in light traffic.

Change the "Climate" setting for "Preheat seat when unlocking the vehicle" .
I’m in and out of my garage all day, so the car wakes up and locks all the time when I have my key.

I didn’t know I could turn this off to save a bit of power

May be use a Faraday box for car keys to keep in the garage?

Maybe for an extra screen or special function? However, the PCM, center screen and HUD are plenty for me to keep situationally aware.

I recently started using “Weather on the Way” which is great when venturing into stormy weather and making in route changes. It is available through the Apple App Store

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/weather-on-the-way/id1471394318

and a similar App exists for Google Play (I’ve not tried)

As more evidence that owners struggle with this stuff for months, after reading your description, I still don't understand whether I actually want to change these settings or not.

People have commented about the rapid acceleration on the highway when adaptive cruise is set to 80 and you pull out from a line of cars that has slowed down. My wife used this experience as justification for saying she didn't want the turbo ... which made me laugh at the time.

just stand your phone up against the A/C buttons...
My point was that there is an option to turn off "cabin monitoring" that many people doesn't know exists. Another example could be if you want to leave a dog in the car (assuming it's a gorgeous day and not too hot or cold) while you run into a store. If you don't turn off cabin monitoring, fido might just set off the alarm.

If you leave Fido in the car and you tell the car to keep the HVAC system on with the center screen at time of vehicle exit, doesn't the cabin monitoring system automatically turn off?

I ask this question because we do this all the time (minus the dog but with a person in the car) and the cabin monitoring never triggers.
