I have had another serious issue related to battery charging and range.

On Saturday afternoon I left home in San Francisco to travel to Cupertino for two different meetings, and then back up to Palo Alto for dinner; so about a 50 mile distance. Battery charge was in the high 50% to low 60% battery level before I left. I had planned on topping off during dinner. I did not take notice of the battery range estimate before leaving home.

As I started driving I was loosing around 1% per mile on average. I had dropped more than 15% in under 20 miles from my house. The degrading of the battery % and milage was so great that I did not think I would make it to my first stop; and there are limited services along this particular strip of route 280. I eventually had to program the car to find the nearest charging station off of 280. It was located in Crystal Springs.

When I started to charge at the fast 350kW charger at EA, I was only pulling between 16-20kW max. There was no one else charging at this EA facility, and I tried three different chargers, but all were pulling in the same low <20kW range.

Above: 29% battery showing only 39 mile range.

Because I had to stop, and the battery was charging so slowly, I missed my first appointment. I charged the battery to 60% and made my way to my second stop, where I knew I could find slow chargers.

A few miles into that second leg of the trip, the battery % and range continued to drop significantly. I lost 12% battery in less than five miles.

I let the battery charge at the slow charger to 75% (note only 107 mile range at 75% battery above), and then made my way to dinner in Palo Alto where I parked in a public garage with slow chargers.

After dinner the app notification indicated that the car had fully charged to "100%" as programmed. When I got to the car (above) the battery was at 98% and showing a 118 mile range.

By the time I got home the battery had dropped to 73% with a 105 mile range; so not as severe a degrading as on the trip down.

My car had the VR28.13 update last November (per the dealership), and another software update in February if I recall, for a slow charging issue.

I brought the car to the dealership on Monday, and now they are performing a new software update VR28.13 SQ5, which I was told was just released last Monday.

Stay tuned.

There seems to be a serious bug with battery capacity and range calculation impacting Macan EV right now. Similar issue here - commute regularly from San Francisco to Cupertino and back for work. Normally I use about 20% of battery each way, 40% of charge total. A couple of weeks ago on my way home I started getting low battery warnings and noticed that both my battery percentage and predicted range were extremely low. When I got home and charged to my usual 80% it was only showing 147 miles of range.
I tried doing what other have suggested - draining the battery low, then charging to 100, then draining and recharging again and nothing fixed it, so I took it into service. Apparently they ran some diagnostics and found some abnormalities that required them to do a reset or reprogramming of some sort. So far, so good after that service. They also installed the latest software update while it was there. Attaching a section from the service invoice. Unfortunately it looks like you’ll need to take it in for the fix, but fortunately it was relatively quick.

Looking at these pictures you are owning a MY26, right? I do have the same issue but I do own a MY25 and I had the "hope" that this issue would not affect MY26. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case. Very very bad.

It has happened to me a couple of times and I fix it by charging to 95% and leave the car unplugged and undisturbed for 10 hours. It is very frustrating if it happens during a trip.
Hopefully the latest software update that was just released will make things better.

2024 and 2025 are pretty much the same. Don't know for 2026.
Have a look at the V28.13 SQ5 /WTA6 notice, there is something about this sort of problems (page 10), even though I suspect they don't disclose all the issues this update seems to tackle Under the hood.

Please let us know if this update resolves your issues.

Reading all the posts about the various issues, I'm getting increasingly worried about my Macan 4S, which is expected to be delivered around October...

My Macan has virtually no issue, and no daily battery drop either. While these things happen more than they should, it’s nowhere near every car.

Don’t worry about this until you have an issue, it may actually never happen.

True - as mentioned in the title :p. I just looked at one picture and assumed it would be a MY26. So then there is still hope for all MY26 owners.

Paris92, the last month of driving for me has been exactly the experience you described above. Seems the latest update fixes it, finally! Hope that does it for your car too.
