I can deal with the random glitches, settings changing randomly when I get in the car, driving assistance having random errors, but this is one I will not put up with should it continue to happen.
For the 2nd time now, my rear drivers-side door would not open. Neither the inside nor the outside handle would release the door. Window lock is off. When either handle is pulled I can hear the audible release noise, but the door fails to open. Even if you pull past the electronic open the mechanical release did not open (which makes no sense to me if it is in fact mechanical). This presents a huge risk and concern for my child’s safety in the event of an emergency where they a) might not be able to open the door to escape or b) emergency responders cannot open the door to retrieve. Obviously these are worse-case scenarios but shouldn’t be discounted in my opinion.
Sure I can take this to the dealer and get their opinion but as the issue goes away randomly after the car resets or sits for a while, I’m not confident the dealer will be able to replicate the problem.
As mentioned, this is the 2nd time this has happened to my car. The 1st time I let the car sit unoccupied and off and that seems to resolve it. This time, after I dropped my child off at school and had her crawl to the passenger side, I pulled the inside handle 5 or 6 times and it eventually popped and the error disappeared.
Annoyed more than anything, and probably just a Monday morning rant, but a safety issue in my eyes that has me thinking of whether I should consider moving on already (lucid gravity or ex90, both of which I have open deposits on)
