Unfortunately not ppf wrapped. I was adviced to not wrap the lights. Porsche said it would make them actually weaker or discolor them. Something like that. I wish there would be a way to protect it. Like an additional glass in front of it.Man that really bites @BigAppleā¦ Really sorry to see that.
Just to be clear, you had PPF on the headlights as well? I guess thereās a limit to which PPF can protect (especially glass areas).
Many years back, I had a similar incident with our Merc W204 - car was <6 months old. Fog lamp was only like 5ā x ā3ā in size, but a stone managed to hit it dead-on, breaking the glass. Took it back to the workshop and had to get the entire fog lamp changed because of that and manufacturers generally donāt just supply the glass portion. When I saw the headlights for our Macans, I did have some āflashbacksā and knew i had to try and protect the area somehow - PPF is probably the only thing we can do tbhā¦
Let us know how it plays out!
Sorry to see that, especially on a new car. That is almost certainly an entire light assembly, and will not be cheap. At least it;s better than paint damage, I suppose, but it still hurts. That is my assumption. I didn't even see it until a friend pointed it out today. Such a bummer less than 1k miles and already need to replace the light. Not sure if they can just fix the glass in front or is this all "baked" in?
the 1 headlight and labor i was told by the dealership is around $5K (2.4K Light + $2.5K Labor)Sorry to see that, especially on a new car. That is almost certainly an entire light assembly, and will not be cheap. At least it;s better than paint damage, I suppose, but it still hurts.
