I'm not going to throw the employee or dealership under the bus, but I can confirm that what I wrote is what I was told, in person.

If I was wasn't able to drive the car for 3 straight months after pickup due to technical issues I would ask for a refund ;) The car has it's share of problems but this seems extreme.

"Make of this story what you will" suggest one of two - beware as this may be a common issue (which I don't think it is based on this forum) or this is just an anegdote in which case thanks for sharing :)

I only shared it as an anecdote.

Virtually every car forum has a similar thread about a new model being out of service for an extended time due to teething problems.

I’m curious, are the employees running the beta or alpha test software? By the way, my Macan 4 has been on the road for over 4,000 miles and it’s still going strong!

same for me. On the road for 2 months, about 4500 km
average t0 -5 -> 12° C
running battery between 100% (home charge) & 12% (once, otherwise charging at 45-50% to get it full overnight)
tried a couple of time testa & non tesla SuC with success
no issue at all, except some latency from time to to time when displaying the 3 colums in main screen. I got once the map that didn't show up in that view... while showing in nav view (pressed 10 secs the main button for reset, and it was over)

also for AppleCarplay : never had a single connection issue (iphone 15 pro max). Using 2 iphones paired to the car.

I'm interested to check if people with lot of issues have got the early delivery dates (august/sept) or also end of year

Since I got it : never saw an OTA update request, never found the option to force the car to check for update (I had this in X5 BMW). Also not sure what version to check in the plethore of menus (definitely, Porsche should hire a "user interface designer".... what a pity. The same in my 718)

So you're telling me you have a sample size of one person who happens to work at a Porsche dealership, and whose car has been broken because of software issues... 🕵️‍♂️

More seriously, it does look like software issues can be really serious (as we've seen on this forum), but seem to only impact a small number of cars, at least until we have better data.

It's indeed likely that a small percentage of Macan EVs have these issues.

What's interesting about the situation (to me) is that this is a repeat of what happened when the Taycan was introduced. Similarly, Macan EV is an entirely new platform, so teething problems are to be expected.

The situation I mentioned is only one data point and must be considered among the totality of the data - no conclusions should be drawn from any single data point, nor would I ever suggest that they should be.

When I was looking to buy a new EV in 2023 I had read about the planned Macan EV. But I then read that as part of the IPO share prospectus docs, Porsche admitted that the launch of the Macan EV was to be delayed a year until sometime in 2024. The delay was primarily down to problems surrounding the production of the E3 1.2 software platform by Cariad, the software division of the VW Group. When I ordered my car in December (before I had found this forum) I had assumed that the software had been thoroughly trialled in the year of delays and Porsche were not rushing to release the new model.

With the Macan not being available, I therefore bought a Lexus RZ 450e and became unknowingly a beta tester for Lexus software engineers - 7 visits to the dealers for essentially software issues and new AC charging module. I had hoped to avoid being a Beta tester in the Macan but am now expecting to have to live with some ‘development issues’.

The irony was that I went with the Lexus because of their excellent engineering reputation because I had lived with 2 years of ‘software issues’ and being a beta tester with my new Range Rover - 8 visits to the dealers in 2 years. It looks like I could end up having to live with being a beta tester for the automotive industry for about 6 years - 2 years RR, 2 years Lexus and maybe 2 years Porsche.
