Is chrono plus really necessary on the Turbo?

Anyone bought the turbo without the sport chrono package? Not sure if I will ever use it. Does the car feel slow with out it?

I'm guessing that's a difficult one as it is standard equipment on the Turbo!

It has very little to do with speed - provides an additional drive mode 'Sport Plus" which you'll rarely use unless on a track and / or wish to eat range, a further PSM mode 'Sport' and a dash mounted wart / clock but also:

- Analog and digital stopwatch
- Sport Plus mode with performance-oriented chassis tuning, Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) and temperature control of the battery
- Integrated Sport Chrono tile with recording of lap times and telemetry data, including the possibility to add your own tracks as well as analyze sectors and laps
- PSM Sport Mode

Historically, there wasn't a wheel on the steering wheel to select the drive mode unless you ordered Sports Chrono but as the drive mode wheel is standard across the Macan EV range it makes the additional option of Sports Chrono marginal on non-Turbo models.

Ok I did wonder but that's odd as typically any Porsche GTS and upwards always has Sports Chrono.

€800 perhaps could be spent elsewhere but remove 'more speed' from the equation - 0 - 60 will be marginally quicker when using launch control but apart from that and the items already mentioned are the key points.

If purchasing privately then most people will choose a Porsche with Sports Chrono over those that don't (it's a Porsche thing going back decades).

Odd but standard in UK market and it would be quite weird iif we had higher standard spec cars than US.

Perhaps, when time to resale, buyers will be looking for it... but thats a big if..... and perhaps in the noise.

Not Standard Equipment on a Turbo in the US. Why buy a Turbo and save on the Sports Chrono?
I get it that you will never use it part, but what if a situation presents when you need to go as fast as you can.

Not standard in the Netherlands; it's a €800+ option, which is shameful on a Turbo.

I specced it because it's kind of pointless getting the Turbo if I'm going to penny-pinch on performance items. May as well get a RWD or 4S in that case.

Definitely not necessary. Turbo is a beast even without it. That said, I always option sport chrono only so I can get the Porsche Design subsecond clock, which I've done for both of my most recent Porsches. I shall do the same for my Macan Turbo when I order one. That is really the only reason to get the sport chrono option for me

I've optioned the chrono plus on my Macan 4 primarily for the aesthetic - I think it looks great and the dash a little bare without a clock; the compass option could work too and is a little cheaper.

I'm also hopeful that the extra sports+ setting that comes with chrono plus can be reconfigured and saved and that would give me an extra configurable drive option available directly from the wheel adjuster. Not entirely sure if this is possible but could for example be used for a low suspension height version of normal mode for long range cruising.

Turbo with sport chrono. Drive settings normal no setting saves, Sport and Sport+ you can configure and save. You can select suspension setting, Porsche sound, wing, etc.

Thanks for confirming the sports and sport+ settings can be saved - I thought they could although I already knew the Normal mode setting changes doesn't save.

Also optioned mine with compass purely for the “looks”

Feels like something is missing to me without it.
