I probably don't need subwoofer often, but I need a lot of storage space for longer trips. Is it possible to remove the subwoofer temporarily using regular tools or is it bolted in the trunk permanently? If yes, does the audio work without subwoofer?

Idk. But i wouldn't be surprised if the amp was part of that whole unit under the trunk. If the amp is removed, I'm thinking nothing with work, as it's prob a multichannel amp,, controlling all the speakers. If that unit is only the sub (which I doubt), then yes everything should still work w/o it.

The subwoofer can definitely be removed. I also think the amp on the subwoofer enclosure is a separate amp. The main amp for the other speakers should be located somewhere else.

The subwoofer/amp/enclosure looks very similar to the older macan system, I bet the main amp is also mounted on the left side near the tail light.

Bose Amp is in the trunk area, forward of the Bose Sub. Brand new Bose AMP my stereo shop hasn’t seen before. Different the previous Bose units used by Porsche. Working on figuring it out, for my stereo upgrades (Focal, Mosconi).

Going to use the sub area for the amps and DSP. Sub will be a 12” cube sitting to the back left by the seat back. Similar to this from my 911 install, but only A single.

did you measure the amps and ohms of the factory sub?
i'm wonding how much power it delivers to the sub...
and are you going to run a multichannel for the highs and lows, or adding single for sub?

Not sure on the factory power. We did full speaker replacement with Focal in the doors and dash, and yes multichannel power to cover all speakers.

We usually do a second Amp for the sub. In the above example of my sub boxes from my 911 I shared, we have 850W to each sub.

so is the LC2 to take the sub signal from the bose amp, and feed to the Sub amp? Are you keeping the bose in?

Because the Bose amp is a new model, they are investigating. Short term we may keep the Bose amp for multichannel and tap the sub signal. Goal is to replace the Bose amp with better power and DSP as we did in my 911.

Once we know more about the ANC (active noise cancellation) we can proceed. This is the tech area they are still researching.

One other challenge mentioned by my stereo shop from other electric vehicles with electric sound (mine has), is doesn’t sound great when further amplified. Will report back.

Here is the 911 setup under the passenger seat and after with our new components. This Bose amp version was well understood by the industry and easy plug and play solution.
