My 'ship' finally came in - and I got to pick up the 4S yesterday. So - I thought I would share some thoughts - as I had been thirsting for information from 4S owners.

To begin - before you pick-up your car, watch a Macan EV set-up video or two. They're a big long - but that's only because there are a significant number of configuration options that you'll need to be aware of.

The longest part of the delivery process was getting the car successful configured. It took 4 separate resets / reloads to get things right. Ultimately, it's likely that you will VERY quickly know more than your dealer.

So now - to the car. My 4S config was 'relatively' light - with an MSRP of USD $101,825. Big ticket items purchased were rear steering, HUD, premium package, the truffle brown leather, Innodrive with ALK, rear wiper, and the compass / clock.. I kept the 20 inch wheels - and optioned the summer tires on the car (tires turned out to be Michelin Pilot Sport tires). Color I chose was volcano grey.

The fit and finish (unlike Out of Spec Dave's white Macan EV 4) is - as far as I can see - impeccable. The car is solid as a drum. No wind noise (other than what you get when you're traveling 75 MPH).

As for the driving - the acceleration is 'stupid' - in that you can literally break someone's neck if their head isn't against the headrest. It IS that violent (I shudder to think how quick the turbo is). But - the Macan isn't just for straight runs at high speed - the car handles extremely well. The seats are just about perfect - not sure what the 18-way seats would improve over the 14-way - I'm pleased with the 14's comfort.

As for the electronics - I'm still in a bit of a learning phase, but the ALK / InnoDrive work well. Coupled with the HUD, heading down the freeway is a whole different experience.

Efficiency over these 2 days - because I picked the car up in New Jersey, where the weather has been brutally cold, has NOT been optimal - approximately 39 kWh / 100 miles. I'm certain that WILL get better over the coming months - especially when I drive South to Florida.

I did have some configuration question issues, but the people at Porsche - the 2 times I called - were very helpful.

VERY happy to answer any questions....

And thanks to ALL on this site who are so very helpful!

Safe travels.

Jealous. Our turbo hit the port in Jacksonville on the 14th and is still there.

Do you have any videos in particular you can recommend that were helpful to you?

REALLY cool to hear about that experience. It just confirmed my ideas about what a 4S can do, and will do to me (after more than 10 quite satisfying years in a Tesla S, as one of the first movers). Thank you for the post, and for this helpful forum

Hard to match the exterior color with configurations offered. Itā€™s looks grey taupe in the photo. What color is it per configuration options?

That's a good colour choice. If you post the Configuration code then all your options are detailed to other Owners - or just post some more pictures!

The Porsche Colour configurator can't completely convey how the car will look. I first looked at other vehicles with the same colour and also the colour samples for seats. They get the shade of grey wrong so that seeing how this fits with some of the grey exterior plastic becomes difficult to gauge.

Mileage is an initial concern for many Macan EV Owners because the quoted range and real life do not coincide especially in colder months. The 20" wheels have the best range. Porsche seem very conservative in how the battery lasts e.g., they don't appear to guarantee too much but it's probably a lot better - let's hope so:

Porsche High-Voltage battery guarantee.

Every new, all-electric Porsche is delivered with a worldwide guarantee against material and manufacturing defects on the high-voltage (HV) battery, which is valid for eight years or up to 160,000 km/100,000 miles.

In addition, we guarantee a minimum residual capacity of the high-voltage battery throughout the warranty periodĀ¹.

Ā¹80% of the original net battery capacity is guaranteed for up to three years or 60,000 km/38,000 miles, after which Porsche guarantee at least 70% residual capacity until the end of the HV battery guarantee.

There is a lot of debate about battery degradation but the one thing everyone seems to agree on, is that AC charges have little or no effect but DC does.

When Porsche grants a battery guarantee of say 70% at 8 years then they must assume worst case that the car will be solely charged on DC. Unlike Lexus, there are no restrictions / criteria on the Macan. Does it therefore follow that using predominately AC charging, the degradation will be far less than 30% ?

When I bought my Lexus RZ 450e the marketing cr*p said the battery was expected to be 90% at 10 years. They reduced the battery ā€˜overheadā€˜ to improve the range and then reduced the warranty to 80%. The battery management software prevented the car being charged more than twice in 24 hours on a DC charger - clearly to preserve battery life. As in the winter, driving on motorways, the RZ would struggle to provide 120 miles (even their website range calculator gives only 150) then sensibly you could only travel about 200 miles in 24 hours - charging was slow too. Hence I sold my 20 month old Lexus and I get my 4S next Saturday.

Hey guys, hope youā€™re well. Greetings from Australia. Keen to get your thoughts on something. I am coming from a BMW X3 M40i, which I bought in 2022. With the straight six twin turbo the car offers plenty of punch off the line (well, in any situation. Very responsive and effortless delivery). However Iā€™ve always dreamed of owning a Porsche (stilling pining for a manual 911 - maybe someday). So I went to check out a new outgoing ICE Macan (S and GTS) and despite its ever refined Porsche-ness, I was struck by how sluggish it felt out of the gate. I then drove the Macan EV (4), which the dealer was pushing me into given my polite but frank critique of the ICE - and I was surprised that both the Tesla model 3 and Polestar 4 (had driven recently but wouldnā€™t buy) felt WAY more responsive in terms of power delivery. The dealer told me to come in and check out the newly arrived Macan EV S yesterday, which I had high hopes for based on paper performanceā€¦ but it still didnā€™t feel as alive off the line as other EVs. And that includes the pedestrian on paper Polestar 4 single motor - which felt light on its feet and punchy despite the weight). Am I missing something here?!!! Maybe I am living in a matrix of my wifeā€™s creation to ensure I donā€™t spent a fortune on a new car I really donā€™t actually need. Welcome any thoughts. I feel like I am trying to talk myself into a $110k USD Porsche now, which is kind of odd for a car that should sell itself based on emotion. Tell me I am crazy if appropriate. Please. How are you guys finding your Sā€™s?

@clayts, I have a Macan 4S and find that it has enough power when needed. I mostly drive it in normal, sometimes sport, and rarely in sport plus. I like it better than my wifeā€™s Tesla model X. It is a lot quieter and handles better. However, I suspect you expect neck breaking power. Therefore, I would suggest that you test drive the Macan Turbo. Alternatively, buy a cheaper EV with subjectively more straightline power and keep saving your money so you can buy the manual Porsche GT3. Also, look into the more affordable manual Porsche 911 Carrera T. Good luck! :)
