Obviously, the turbo has more acceleration but in the corners and slalom it handles just like my 4
Im going to have to disagree with your assessment. Base 4 and Turbo drive very different in corners and slalom. If the Macan 4 fits your needs great. But not apples to apples in handling and drive characteristics.

I have driven both, quite hard, and stand by my assessment.

We live close to each other. Trade you my Turbo for the week and see if it changes your mind. 😊
Hey Jeff, yeah that might be fun but I not that intent on making my point. I will add though, that the drive coach I had at PECLA did tell me that my 4 would handle the same as the turbo I was driving there, except that mine does not have RWS. I'll look for you in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Cheers. 🙂

Let's think about this logically.

What differences are there between the two models besides power, and assuming both have the same options such as rear axles steering and air suspension (which is standard in the US)? There really isn't anything.

So when spec'd with the same options and set up identically (i.e. PASM in Sport+ for example), I would expect the handling to be essentially indistinguishable.

Don’t have enough experience on PTV plus and what difference it may make but don’t think that’s optionable on the 4 but is standard on turbo?

Thanks everyone for all this helpful advice. I'm on the fence as well with 4 vs 4s and also prefer range over speed. I'm looking to build mine and worth waiting if need be.
I was hoping for a few answers from the group as I'm building the car.
Is it necessary or worth it to add rear windshield wiper?
Thermally and noise insulated glass worth the cost?
I like the bordeaux red, but does it dirty and easy to clean?
thanks everyone.

I guess like most people, I faced the same dilemna. I eventually settled for the 4 (which is due for delivery this week... can't wait!) as my current lease was coming to an end and the few extra months would be a pain to deal with in terms of logistics. For the options I picked, it was really a close call and only about a 3-4% price difference overall..

IMHO, if you have to ask the question then probably the 4 is already quite good enough. Now, if you can afford to wait and get the options you desire at a price you can afford, yes probably the 4S has some arguments since it'll likely going to be a MY2026.

Let's face it, it's in the name, the S is more Sporty. It offers a bigger rear motor, bigger brake calipers, a different tuning of the throttle response and some options built-in. It also offers PTV+ if you care for it (but in that case you would probably also not hesitate a split second). The 4 is still a very good high-end car and delivers 80% of the same sensations (if not more) for your daily drive.

I picked my 4S up last week and am so pleased I specced the rear wiper. My previous car was a Gran coupe BMW which doesn’t have one, and while not the end of the world, there were enough times when I wished I had it.
I haven’t driven a car with noise insulating glass, but my car is incredibly quiet, so possibly not needed, but I will defer to anyone with experience.

If you prefer range over speed you already answered the question yourself. The range difference when driving normally is quite small however, the speed difference is definitely hugely noticeable.

I got the insulated car and the car is so amazingly quiet, it is unbelievable. Is it necessary? Really hard to judge as the car is probably also quiet without it. Consequently I dont have the wiper - did not miss it either so far.
