Thanks for all very the constructive inputs from everyone as I am considering the same options and leaning towards the 4S.

If I transfer my 4s configuration to a Turbo, the price difference is around EUR 12,000. This includes everything that is technically possible, full leather, thermo glass, chrono, etc. This means that half of the higher price of the Turbo is made up for by the better equipment of the Turbo. So you pay exactly this amount for the Turbo optic, the great but not practical performance and 30-50 miles less range. Nevertheless, I'm still tempted....

<quote livingthedream>So, clearly the Turbo can be used for pulling stumps out of the ground. The question you need to ask yourself is, "How often am I really going to be pulling stumps out of the ground?"</quote>

You, my friend, are in the wrong forum. :)

Not sure if you still need feedback, I went the lean turbo route and I don't regret it because:
  • It has RWS and all the performance options I'd have checked anyway
  • I like its style better (I have a problem with shape of the rear quarter panel in the non-Turbo trims)
  • I don't really care about custom interior/exterior options, my build is relatively minimal and that's what I like about it.
In your situation and looking at your build, I think I'd go the 4S route, you have RWS and the comfort options you wanted.

In your configurations, the Aventurine Green 4S looks special. The black Turbo does not. Change the Turbo color to green and you’ve got a winner for almost exactly the same price!
BTW, I have the off-road design wheels and think they look great! Wheels, like color, are a very personal choice. Get whatever YOU like, not what your SA thinks.

My turbo is just a blast on on ramps and from stop lights when I’m in the mood to punch it. Never had more fun in a car!
There’s a certain glee that washes over you when you completely blow off whoever storms up a ramp behind you and just expects you to move over and make way lol.

I am interested in the community‘s perspective on this: I have two alternative builds linked below. The 4S is pretty close to fully loaded (no HUD), and the turbo is performance optioned + leather interior, but otherwise pretty lean on extras. The price on both is pretty close to the same. From what I have been reading and a recent short test drive, the extra power in the turbo is impressive/amazing, but not necessarily “useful” because it is SO impressive/amazing. So, in the long run, would I be happier with the creature comforts in a loaded 4S, or sad that I don’t have the Turbo’s performance/cachet? Obviously, this is somewhat a matter of personal preference, but I am interested to hear thoughts from current owners.

Another question: has anyone got the off-road wheels? The SA strongly recommended against them, implying they were not as good looking IRL as they are in the configurator. I wonder if that is more a matter of taste…?

What no one seems to have asked is what makes you smile when you drive? Is it speed and torque (pick the Turbo)? Or is it having the toys and gadgets and your disposal to make your slightly more leisurely yet still punchy drive more interactive (Pic the 4S)? Are you the type of driver who gets into their car and strokes the headlining? lol.

The turbo with less gadgets will likely retain more residual value than a fully spec‘d but cheaper model (cough - not at all cheap, but you know what I mean!) so is residual value important to you?

Both wheel types work well w/ the provence (gorgeous builds, y'all!). I think maybe it's a color thing w/ aventurine green - with the off-road wheels, there isn't enough contrast . . . or something. Having seen some pics, I'm starting to see the point my SA was making. Offroad wheels seem to look best paired with Oak Green, Provence, and possibly Gentian Blue, but less so (IMHO) w/ Aventurine Green, Dolomite Silver, and Slate Grey. But that's just my opinion.

Well I wanted a Turbo but did not feel I could wait it out. I have had a 4S sitting at the dealer for a few weeks and I am finally back home to pick it up tomorrow. I certainly could of had a Turbo for the same or less but could not wait. Happy to hit the road tomorrow to pick it up in Farmington Hills, MI. 2.5 hour drive home, can't wait. https://porsche-code.com/PS88FTV9

Looks great w the Macan Design wheels, too! I just picked up a set of those cheap on eBay (Cali driver put only 50 miles on them before swapping for some custom aftermarket wheels) to serve as my seasonal tire swap. Off road Design for winter and Macan Design for summer—best of both worlds!
