New 4S Roof Rattle

what’s the climate like where you’re at?
interestingly when it was under 10 degrees here the rattle mostly went away.
It became way more prominent today when we had 45 degree weather.

I'm in Palm Springs. It was 45 this morning and 65 this afternoon. Squeak! The dealer here will look at it, but based on prior experience the car will sit for a few days until they get around to it (even when an appointment is scheduled). I'm only on day 4 so I'm going to drive it for a bit and see if perhaps it goes away. I know, wishful thinking.

I took mine in again and they fixed it. here's what they said "Applied rubber care to seals and adjusted front glass, road tested again, concern no longer present".

Also had this same issue on a newly delivered Macan 4. Gummi fledge around all the rubber seals, allow to dry for 10 mins and wipe has sorted the majority of the problem.

I noticed a sunroof rattle when going over bumpy surfaces too

I noticed that closing the sunroof cover eliminates most of the sound , but that sucks cause I like having some natural light.

I ordered some gummi pflege and will give that a shot to see if it eliminates the rattle

So forgot to post back. Creaking definitely decreased after the fix which was basically cleaning and lubricating the tracks and rubber. Larger speed bumps at an angle I still hear something creaking / rattling. I may bring it up again but since it’s hard to reproduce now don’t know if it will be addressed further. Overall a bit surprised with some of the build issues on the Macan EV, seems in some respects didn’t get the full Porsche treatment.

I am sure it got the „full porsche treatment“ even more so than other models they developed. but it is a big change / challenge . the car is extremely quiet, you hear things nobody hears driving ICE.

quick update on gummi pflege, I don’t think it did anything…i applied it on sunroof and did a quick drive afterwards and still observed rattle.

I then took a look and noticed there was a gap where the headliner meets the sunroof but only on one edge (front edge parallel to windshield. Plugged it with acoustic foam , using the process described here and didn’t observe any rattling on 1hr+ of driving yesterday.

Not sure if this pic is helpful so let me know if you have any questions. I didn’t “pretttify” the work because the foam isn’t visible in day to day driving, only when you peek your head out of the sunroof.

I didnt post a new thread for this cause the rattling is pretty subtle and unless you have sensitive ears and borderline ocd like me, it probably won’t bother majority of people

so my conclusion is that my rattling situation is most likely coming from the headliner gap and that the gummy pflege didn’t do anything (it could be possible gummy pflege actually did help and just needed time to cure overnight or something — I don’t know the inner workings of gummy pflege ) but I’m happy the rattling is gone

so far acoustic foam has been a lifesaver for me… Ive used it everywhere on the car with pretty good results. I guess my mantra should be “when in doubt, stuff with acoustic foam!”

So glad to have found this thread. I have been dealing with the sunroof rattle since week 1. Took it in once previously, but the dealer was of no help. I was dealing with two different sounds from the sunroof.
First, was coming from the backside of the movable sunroof panel when it slides in to sit flush with the stationary panel when the sunroof is closed. This sits right above your ear as you drive. I lined this edge liberally with grease. This has almost eliminated the faint but persistent “murmur” kind of noise.
Second, is the louder noise that sounds like glass vibrating. This happens on slightly rough roads and can really sound jarring. This noise is what I’m struggling with now. I have managed to get it recorded on my phone… but let’s see if the dealership will acknowledge it.
Really annoying that such a premium vehicle will have rattle issues that the owners have to troubleshoot themselves!!
