I haven't purchased a separate data pass. Its the one that came with the car which is having problems working. The Porsche app and the data pass account say it should all be connected and working but car says no
Ok so there should be nothing for you to do.

The car would have left the dealership with Porsche Connect active - this uses the same standard connectivity as Apple Music, Spotify, all online connectivity.

The data pass is intended for sharing an internet connection via the vehicle's wifi hotspot which is not what you should be doing as this is in addition to what you get with Porsche Connect. This is something you purchase from the Porsche Connect store and in UK is supplied by Vodafone.

If you want to connect your PCM to your phone's hotspot and use the phone's data service then you can do that also but again the question I have is "why do you need to do it in the first place?:.

Is your Porsche Connect service up and running - can you connect to your car remotely?

Have you linked your Porsche ID to either of Apple Music or Spotify (or indeed your own Apple Music account)?

If using Spotify are you using Spotify Premium (this is a requirement on the Taycan for example)?

Apologies for my ignorance but I havenā€™t got my S yet. In my Lexus RZ Apple CarPlay the Apple Maps cannot show satellite view. Is the Macan the same, so you can get Maps in the screen and HUD but not in the main screen as satellite ? My Range Rover would display satellite view BUT it consumed so much data from the monthly ā€˜fair usage policyā€™ that it used to be unavailable for half the month.

The macan EV comes with 5GB of data per month for the first 4 years included for free. My data plan is active but my car doesn't recognise it. They are still trying to diagnose the problem.

You definitely need to register with Vodafone for it to work, in the UK at least. Sounds like itā€™s this step where the issue is.

From what I can work out, the native Spotify app in the PCM uses the data package as I was eating through the 5GB quite quickly.

So there is a clear difference between the Taycan PCM (and apps) and Macan EV PCM (and apps) which I think I've now got my head around.

On the Taycan Apple Music and Spotify are natively integrated into the PCM and on the Macan EV not.

No faffing with data packages either as its all part and parcel of the Connect services. You can purchase a data package for the PCM data sharing but that's different to the issue you have just now.

On the Macan EV you need to install the Spotify app which I'm assuming you've already done but to stream content either you pay extra for a data service (which is nuts) OR enable the hotspot on your mobile and share that data connection to your PCM which supports external WiFi hotspotting (Taycan J1.1 did not).

So 1) Install Spotify, 2) Enable hotspot on mobile phone, 3) Connect PCM to your mobile phone hotspot), 4) login to Spotify, 5) hopefully start streaming.

OR (if you're using an iPhone), just use the apps through CarPlay. That way, you won't be bumping up against your bandwidth allotment for Connect services.

Yeah this is one of the reasons Iā€™ve switched back to CarPlay for day to day use after giving the PCM apps a go.

Will still use the PCM for longer journeys until EV routing is switched on for the Macan in Apple Maps.

Speaking of which... I was on the phone with a level 2 support person from Porsche North America yesterday and getting EV routing going in Apple Maps is one of the issues we're working on. It's supposed to work, so I'll report back when/if they figure out why it's not working for me.

In the meantime, like you, I'm using PCM nav and finding it pretty solid. I've got the HUD, so it's really nice when I'm in a congested area I don't know. The augmented reality arrows marking the location of your next turn are really handy. The only hiccup I've had with EV routing was when it once bypassed a high-speed (350kW) charge point and instead took me to a much slower one (50kW). Not wanting to wait an hour to get the charge I needed, I ended up having to cancel plans to visit a friend. Lesson learned: double check charing stop speeds before accepting a route plan.
