Just been quoted UK£ 1,319.24 inc 20% VAT by the dealer to supply and fit 2 Porsche cameras on the windscreen and rear window, prior to car delivery in March. The dash cams are listed at £401 on the Tequipement website - so that's over £900 fitting charge . Is that standard/reasonable?

I paid £995 for the same as you in December. It feels like a rip off! The picture quality is decent, but the functionality and faff of actually watching something back or changing any settings frustrates me!!

Rip off indeed - when you're paying close to £110k for the car and they want to gouge a 3 times Porsche buyer for fitting a couple of pre-wired web cams at PDI, I think they are risking their customer loyalty. The emailed response to my suggestion that they might like to re-consider their estimate for the work was: "(it's) a long job due to the plugs being berried with in the car to get to". The parts advisor offered to take it up with the "sales man" to see if they might help on the price. I'll update when I get some news ...

Yeah my dealer said the same thing to me. They said it takes them 8 hours on a Taycan pre-wired so that's what they quoted me as well. It's mind boggling that it would take 8 hours, it feels more like a "we don't want to do it because we have better things to do" kind of price.

I am hopeful for someone on this forum to post a video of cam installation instructions. Removing the trim seems to be the most difficult part.

I had excellent front & rear cameras fitted by a Lexus dealer with no pre-wiring and it cost £ 450 for them to supply & install. I mention this as Lexus dealers certainly know how to charge.

I have a NextBase IQ Front and Rear in my one and it was only £119 GBP for professional fitting. Plugs straight into the ODB port, all wiring hidden and works like a dream in an EV
.

Highly recommended and so much easier to use for remote video viewing compared with older NextBase cams.

An update - the dealer came back with a -10% offer, so now £1,162. In the meantime I've been considering the options, helped by the comments above - thanks for these. So... I could have a fitter move my Nextbase 622GW units from my ICE Turbo to my EV Turbo (awaiting an on-the-driveway quote for this: Updated: RS Connect quoted £185 to de-install ICE and re-install in EV), but I actually prefer to have the smaller Porsche dash cam (9Y0 044 951) as the NB622GW front unit has the unnecessary screen) and would also like to have the most simple and convenient app-based interface with the installed dash cam. There's a temptation to think that a Porsche dash cam + Porsche app in conjunction with Porsche Connect, might offer that. I also looked at BlackVue DR970X-2CH Front & Rear Dash Cam with Sony Starvis night vision capability, and adding the optional iCloud functionality, it would be over £750 including cabling plus £80 install (maybe the pre-installed cabling might be adaptable for an experienced fitter, although they are unlikely to have any experience of the Macan EV install. The night vision advantage might be the tipping point - anyone got any experience of the adequacy of the night vision capability of the Porsche unit? Updated: decided to go with the BlackVue DR970-2CH

Pretty certain a non IQ NextBase will need a fuse connection which is an issue locating unless can tap off pre-wiring.

The IQ is the only one that’s plug and play via the ODB P

My dealer added 3375 NOK to my contract (£243) and installed both cameras before pick-up of car. (I'd already optioned the pre-wiring.)

that’s what I paid to have mine installed at Porsche reading centre - not sure it’s reasonable but that’s what it was.

If they charge £ 900 to fit with prewiring what would they charge without it !
I‘ve just done a quick search and back in 2017 Porsche Reading was found to be the most expensive dealer, charging £ 234 /hr
