Porsche Financial Results 2025

"We are convinced that electric drive is a superior, more efficient technology"

Citation - Porsche Financial Results Intro Statement:
32min 20s

They also make clear throughout that whilst electric vehicle take up is slower than previously predicted, it will make up an ever increasing portion of sales.

They also state that Macan will be electric only.

Curious muddying of the waters if there is to be a 'hybrid' with a 3rd crossover. If this is now how it plays out then many folk may sit it out and wait for that model to arrive given the lack of pressure now to jump ship to an EV quite so early. Alternatively, those who just can't make the leap of faith will queue up outside Audi dealerships to get the closest next thing.

As we know the ICE sales were enormous and the current EV offering not so much (after the initial hiatus) - Porsche won't want to lose these sales quite so easily given it (like the Cayenne before it) props up the company.

U-turns are now the order of the day on many bold global statements not least at a 'presidential' level, EU position on EV only from 2030 and so on.

The only thing that is constant is change.

But Porsche stated the new hybrid model 'could be launched before 2030'.
But going by how the Macan EV model kept getting delayed, expect longer.
A Behemoth moves slowly ;)

It was interesting that there was no mention of an electric variant of the 3rd crossover model but there will be ICE/Hybrid/EV versions of the new Cayenne as well as EV 718 models with the new EV Cayenne "in the starting blocks" whatever that means but presumably due quite soon.

Porsche EVs were 12% of unit sales in 2024 and expect to be 22% in 2025 so good growth expected in EVs especially as they are forecasting a slightly lower overall unit sales in 2025.

Also not surprised as the ICE Macan is dated and the EU is not backtracking on EVs just weathering a Trump ICE storm at the moment. I am surprised by them talking about an entirely new product line. I thought they were hurting for $$.

They already have a hybrid Cayenne for the SUV segment. Also, they already have a Hybrid Panama for the Sedan segment so the only other distinctive lineup missing a hybrid is the 911. They should do a 911 hybrid for the sports segment, which should still keep petrol heads and the range anxious people happy. If their engineers are looking for work they should optimize the crap out of the Macan EV (like they did with the Taycan) and prep it for solid-state batteries. If they want to add to the SUV options then they should pull a Bently and stretch the Macan like Bently did with the Bentayga.

The only car they should keep as a pure gas option is the 911 and then as a limited special for the super die-hards. I don't even think they need to keep the 718 gas or create a hybrid 718 as they are very small and from the spy shots I have seen the 718 EV will be an awesome transition for that line to pure electric after a short time.

Latest 911 GTS is a 'hybrid' with a battery to spin the turbos (no drive from the battery though) so technically more 911s will be labelled as a 'hybrid'.

New product line addresses the over zealousness of ditching Macan ICE totally given the high sales enjoyed since original launch. They will need this new revenue stream and clearly don't expect a lot of traction from the Macan EV on its own. Had they thought about this they would have made the PPE platform more flexible than it is to support ICE / Hybrid / Electric. Note that the next gen Cayenne won't be EV only...

Those numbers are misleading - sales volumes are down overall and so the 25% is of a lower volume than previous years.

China, EV collapse, Taycan slump, withdrawal of Macan ICE in many markets and apparently all markets this year.

I would really like to see a 911 EV.

I mean it's already got a Frunk.
Me too. The ICE 911 is the last bastion of ICE for Porsche. I have read some reviews of the 2025 911 GTS hybrid and even though it is just the turbo portion of the car that is converted to electric it seems like a logical next step for that car. I think if you got rid of the ICE component of the 911 entirely the Porsche fanbase would have a meltdown (pun intended).

Interesting!

But really would like a pure EV only version.
No chance this century I'd say. Need super dense 100% solid state batteries which are at best in the lab at the moment. In truth, the moment the 911 loses ICE I think that will be the end for most petrolheads. 911 GTS T-Hybrid sounds beautiful - almost air-cooled in sound.

I saw the hybrid in Edinburgh along with the Macan EV some months well before launch (2023). All heavily camouflaged but as they parked in my car park I had a sneak peak and the 911 had an electrical warning on the car cover which kinda gave the game away not knowing that it wasn't going to be a full on hybrid.
