So, as a newbie to Porsche, what extra benefit does having PASM with air suspension bring compared to steel suspension - apart from ability to change the ride height?

Full disclosure: I’ve already ordered PASM with steel suspension. Wasn’t able to test the different versions at the time of ordering. Just wondering what I’m missing out on…

In this thread, @PastaSource linked the recent WhatCar updates that covered the Macan GTS, it talks a bit about suspension on UK roads.

I recently had a Macan 4 with air suspension, it ironed out pot holes and bumps very nicely, and at the same time, was not wallowy.

PASM refers to the shock absorbers only and air suspension additionally includes air cushioned suspension for ride height.

The upgrade to air (includes PASM) is worth every penny and steel should be avoided IMHO - particularly on an EV due to the weight.

Better ride over all.

Air can be programmed to automatically raise the height of the car at speed bumps or ramps (Smart Lift) and is excellent.

Better aero and therefore efficiency as the ride height is adjusted depending on speed.

Personally I would not purchase a Porsche without air (if available) and had it on Cayennes, Panameras, Macan ICE, and Taycans (standard on some models).

The Air suspension is quite firm, even in Normal mode it is not floaty like most Air suspensions tent to be … so in that respect it is a + On the other hand I would have preferred a comfort mode on them beside OffRoad/Normal/Sport/SportPlus

Normal mode, I guess, is a comfort mode in Porsche speak 🤔

Just buy a mercedes if you want more comfort. I absolutely love my Macans air suspension, I think the suspension is what sets it apart most from other cars, absolutely perfect.
